Off to Poland to get some Zloty!

My wedding adventures take me to yet another new country :) And what’s doubly awesome here is that I get to collect some more brand new currency for my collection! I love other people’s money! Haha…

Last month’s trip to Canada squared me away with North America, and then Eurotrip did me well for the Euro, and now we get to grab some sexy Polish Zloty! (well, I don’t know if it’s sexy yet since I have yet to see some in person, but if that image up there is any indication I’m sure they’ll be just as shiny and colorful as all other non-US bills out there.)

Which reminds me, why are ours so green? My British friend was asking the other day and I didn’t know what to tell him except for that we’re just not that creative ;) Although to be fair our currency IS pretty ornate – even though it hasn’t been updated in quite some time (ever?).  I also like how historic and “founding father-ish” our bills currently look, despite my curiosity if more color and sizes are coming out in the near future.  Other countries have different sizes to help the blind (at least that’s why I think they do it?) and I think it would be awesome if we started going down that road too.

Then again, I have no expertise in in these dolla dolla bills, all I know is how to COLLECT them ;) Both in my savings account, and in my currency album! (like a big ol’ nerd, haha…) So while those other fools snatch up trinkets and magnets and all other sorts of souvineers out there, this homeboy is taking back some cold hard cash.  Regardless if it’s worth anything here in the U.S. or not ;)

So hold down the fort for me!  Enjoy the guest posts I’ve got coming up and I’ll see ya when I’m back.  You can always follow my antics on Twitter if you miss me – W00T!

Fun country (but then again, I’m biased). LOL

Enjoy yourself. Make sure you eat as much home-cooked goodness as you can find. And if it seems like everything’s made with sour cream, that’s because it is. ;)

Do you only collect currency from countries you’ve visited? If not, I may have some Venezuelan Bolivars for your collection that are pretty neat looking (if worthless). Just let me know where I can send them.

Hope you have fun in Poland! Do you only collect paper bills or do you collect coins as well?

I thought Poland used the Euro?

@Tom – Na zdrowie my friend! (much easier to type than to say me thinks…)
@Wojo – Do you want me to pour out any for your homies out there on the mother ground?
@Curt – Sweet! I collect all kinds, so that would be very exciting :) I will email you on the side – thx bro! I’ll take some pics of it in my album to show it’s gone to good use, haha…
@Jenna – I mainly collect paper bills cuz they’re really cool and crazy looking to me, but coins are def. being kept and displayed too (although I need to find a better book for the coins, having a hard time finding something decent-looking). Everywhere I go I get the bills and all the coin denominations, but if you have any laying around you don’t like give me a shout ;) maybe we can trade for the ones I have duplicates of?
@Clare – I think they’re set to convert down the road, but just haven’t as yet. Another reason I have to hurry up and get over there before they conform!

Also, just realized I have a 5 HOUR layover in Boston tonight! D’oh. Guess that’s what I get for finding the cheapest last minute flight I could find (remember that bitching and moaning i was doing on Twitter last week? it was because a friend lied to me and never bought my tickets she had said she did. so I had to book this flight 1 week out. all 3 xfers & layovers included ;()

So if anyone wants to meet at Boston Airport tonight let me know! We can watch a movie, play chess, monopoly, go drinking, or all 4 ;) At least this time I’m not stuck there because I’m an idiot.

@J. Money / I don’t collect money. However, I do keep change I get from international travels to share (like my younger cousins or the neighborhood kids). Good conversation starters. Let me know if your interested.

Haha, I thought you were quiet when I talked about all the green :)
Thanks for the mention and I’m really excited to have been an inspiration of sorts.

Safe flight and have an amazing time.

And why am I not surprised you have a currency album?! It’s all about the Moolah with you!

Sounds interesting! Now, you gave me an idea to collect as well. I love to travel but never thought of collecting money currencies from which country I visited. Now, I am looking forward on my next travel collecting some of those dollars.

Oh yeah, I think collecting foreign money is much more fun than souvenirs :) nice & easy to pack and not clutter up the house too! haha… of course, it is pretty nerdy.

And thx Jenna! I’ll give a shout later, you’re sweet.
