Merry Christmas! From a soon-to-be 40 year old (!!!)

Morning!!

Hope you’re ready for a fun-filled holiday week! Did you know it’s the ONE time of year when you’re not allowed to think about your finances at all?

It’s true :)

Which means more time to just BE and reflect on how lucky we are in this world… Exactly what we’ll be doing ourselves as we take a couple days off from the blog just being with the fam and our new baby girl in the mix (WE ADOPTED HER!!!! OMG!!).

Back on Friday, but until then – happy holidays and enjoy the slower pace of life for a bit! If anyone has some advice for a soon-to-be 40 year old, please pass it over as I’m doing my best to stay calm, cool and confident, haha… I hear it’s an achievement though to even REACH 40, is that right? :)

Ho Ho Ho,

PS: A shout out to my birthday twins Josh Overmyer, Martin from Studenomics, and the one and only Coach Carson who also share the same birth date! Even though I’m a bit wiser than them all!

Happy Birthday to you and Merry Christmas to you and the fam! I have a few years until 40, but at any age… it’s just a number! For some, 40 feels “old”, for others 40 feels new, energizing, and full of opportunity. The great thing is, you get to choose how you want to take it!

      Amen to that :)

Let’s go with new, energizing, and full of opportunity haha…

      Merry Christmas!

I was dragged kicking and screaming to 40 (I’m 44 now), but then it came and it felt oddly calming. Not sure why. Maybe I’m just glad to have made it this far?

Calm is good!! Has it stuck now a few years into it, or back to the chaos of life? :)

It definitely ebbs and flows but in general, has stayed. :)

A new follower here! Happy Birthday and Happy Holiday’s as well. I am turning 42 in a few days and let me tell you, I thought my 30’s were amazing but my 40’s have been life changing and I’ve grown so much. You’ll be amazing and grow in ways you never thought possible. Best to you and yours this Holiday Season!

Enjoy all of it while you can. In 2 more decades things will look quite different for you and your family.

You’re right on that! Crazy to think about!

I am 46 and have enjoyed my forties more than any other decade – old enough to be credible, but still young enough to be innovative and bold in your career. Plus I started reading you and paid off my student loans so that I am now building wealth instead of being a conduit to my creditors.

Nicely done! I’m liking the “bold moves” area too ;) Always keeps life interesting!

2 things: you get to once again celebrate you became a millionaire before 40! And now you can get a tattoo with the reasonable expectation that it’s something meaningful to you!

    1. J. Money December 27, 2019 at 7:20 AM

      Haha… yes please to both!

Be encouraged! 40 is the Old Age of Youth! 50 is the Youth of Old Age!

      Heyo!!!

  10. GRETTMAN December 26, 2019 at 6:24 AM

It just occurred to me that you hit the $1 million mark before 40. Great job!

    1. J. Money December 27, 2019 at 7:24 AM

Thank you – yes!! 25 year old me would have never guessed that in a million years :) amazing how life can change when you set your heart on something.

Happy Birthday! I’m a little older maybe than some listeners (readers) at age 57. I do love following your growth though. We all have different circumstances and I would say you are doing so great and I really like your blog a lot. I’m FI now, not sure RE, but pretty sure. Thanks for sharing and have a very Happy Birthday! You are quite accomplished for age 40!

    1. J. Money December 27, 2019 at 7:26 AM

Thank you, Jackie!!! So nice of you to say! Congrats on all your $$$ success over the years too! So glad you’re enjoying the blog :)

Here’s to 40. I’ll see you there in a month or so!

I did think about my finances — but only because a few paychecks’ worth of my last 2019 401(k) contributions finally hit Fidelity on Tuesday. It’s nice to get in just under the wire on maxing that thing out.

Hope you and yours had a fantastic Christmas in the new home, and safe travels if you’re on your way somewhere!

    1. J. Money December 27, 2019 at 7:27 AM

Early congrats, brother! Those 401(k) contributions are the best gift you can give yourself ;)

      Thanks Leila!

      Adopt, don’t shop, right? :)
