“Finding Money” – A story by my 7 y/o 😂

Morning!!

I present to you a special guest for the day: My boy, Baby Penny!

Who’s not much of a baby anymore (man was that a quick 7 years!), but who makes his father proud each and every day, especially on those when I catch him thinking and talking about money ;)

The story he’s about to share with us isn’t the most educational one, but seeing as how there’s LITERAL MONEY taped to the cover of it (that’s a real penny! Lol…), I think you’ll like it :)

Here’s his book, “Finding Money”, along with a slightly edited transcript for easier reading…

Any questions or comments, pass them over and I’ll make sure he sees and responds to them 😂

Enjoy!

“Finding Money”

by Baby Penny

finding money - page 1

“One day three people went on an adventure, but it was so long they had to make a map!”

*******

finding money - page 2

“But there was a problem – they did not know what money was? But that is okay because that is what the book is about. They got to work and made a ship, and then got on it and set sail on the sea.”

*******

finding money - page 3

“It became night and the waves were strong. They tried to go to the island but the waves were too strong. Then they fell asleep!”

*******

finding money - page 4

“And then they washed up on the island, and they looked around and did not see anything.”

*******

finding money - ending

“But then they saw a cave and went inside and saw something shiny and round. It was money. Then they went home and money became real! The end.”

My 6 year old really liked the book, he is currently saving his teeth so the tooth fairy can give him more money at one time when he puts it under his pillow.

I love this! He has a future in blogging, just like his old man. And for only 7? His spelling isn’t even bad. Congratulations dad : )

      Haha… *tips hat*

Passed him along your note and he says, “Thank you! And yes – my dad really is an old man!”

Awesome story and illustrations! I look forward to another installment, if Baby Penny is inspired to give us more. Well done Dad (and Mom!).

He tells me he’s actually done already with the next one, and it will be called “Astronauts.” But unfortunately he says he has lost it so we will have to explore his messy room to locate it ;)

Well that apple didn’t fall far from the tree! Love that he is learning to appreciate money from the beginning as a value.

Thanks for sharing his wisdom :)

He says, “I’m eating apples right now with peanut butter!”

      Haha…

Baby big penny now has such great storytelling and handwriting for his age! I have a penny the same age and their writing is not so easy to read!

      “HA HA HA HA HA”

(I think he’s laughing at you having another penny and not that they write messier?? ;))

As a second grade teacher, this warms my heart. I love when kids write about whatever they want. It’s a great read!

Heeyy!!! And he’s exactly in 2nd grade too – look at that! :)

Will have him read this note as soon as he’s up.

That is incredibly cute, teaching kids about money is so important. My daughter is really just now starting to get the concept. She actually saved up her chore money for a video game expansion. Be patient if the concept comes slowly.

    The book is fantastic.

Haha awesome!! Baby Penny would be proud of your daughter for using the money towards video games :) He’s still hoping he gets a “real” system for his next birthday as apparently the ones we give him aren’t cool enough, haha…
