If someone has $180,000, clearly they wouldn’t be dumb enough to fall for this. LOL

    Fail, indeed.

    GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I really am just not sure how someone can be that incredibly stupid.

I mean…if you were going to try and convince someone to just randomly give you 180,000 wouldn’t you at least make it clear as to how to even get the money to you???

Do these people speak a different language? In that case there are online translation tools…

  3. Penny Frugalista August 30, 2010 at 4:06 PM

Wow, that’s pretty terrible. I’ve got an entire folder in my Gmail dedicated to bad scam emails for a future post. Obviously, English isn’t most of these scammers’ first language.

  4. DC Grrl August 30, 2010 at 4:36 PM

I’m sorry, but once she got to “maybe you will seem ugly,” any sympathetic ear in my body turned away.
Call me ugly, will ya? That’s your problem right there, Lasha. $180,000 makes most anyone sexy!
    ;)

Sounds like a really poor translation of an e-mail from another language. Some direct translations just don’t work… Kinda like KFC’s old slogan “Finger Lickin’ Good!”, when it was translated into (I believe) Chinese, it came out “You Will Eat Your Fingers Off!”

    Horray for babelfish!

  6. Suba @ Wealth Informatics August 30, 2010 at 5:16 PM

LOL! What a way to ask money by calling someone ugly!! It does look like a poor translation job!

  7. Mr. ToughMoneyLove August 30, 2010 at 5:57 PM

Please don’t tell me this is a scam. I’m so embarrassed that I fell for this. I maxed out all of my credit cards and HELOC to help Lasha from Georgia. This being the case, can you and your readers now help me? I urgently need $180,000 to pay my new credit card debt. I am not ugly, just compassionate and stupid. Thanks for your donations.

lol!! I got one of those once, I think it was equally pathetic… Usually they come from Africa…

http://www.419eater.com/index.php This guy gets these people to do some CRAZYYY stuff lol… He basically acts like he is going to send the person money IF they do ……… One pic the guy has a fish on his head lol, and he write back, No, I need the fish this way..lol, so good!

  9. AceKen August 30, 2010 at 9:09 PM

@myfinancialobjectives haha yeah I saw that site before. It’s so hilarious and ridiculous what some of these scammers will do! lol

Lying Lasha : “if possible lend me money and I promise I’ll give them” – Lol hey J$, she did say she promised to pay it back. I think I trust her..NOT! haha

#eipcfail !! even for the auto-generated system that created that email should feel insulted with that!

  11. Techbud August 30, 2010 at 9:18 PM

So how much did you send?

Maybe she’s from the Country of Georgia and not the state? Wow, makes we want to search my spam to see if I can top that one.

  12. J. Money August 30, 2010 at 10:32 PM

You know what makes this even funnier? Re-reading it after a few bears :) I am DYING over here!!!

@myfinancialobjectives – That guy is awesome! I wish I had the balls (and time) to keep someone on the line like that :) I bet Tough Money Love up there would do it!

  13. Mrs. Accountability August 31, 2010 at 6:41 AM

Wow, J$, what kind of bears were you drinking? Stuffed teddy bears blended, or real live bears? ;-)

  14. sarah August 31, 2010 at 8:52 AM

holy crap, you don’t mess around… I thought you were drinking Budweisers, not BEARS!!! You are such a bad ass, you make Chuck Norris look like a wimp.

  15. Mike - Saving Money Today August 31, 2010 at 11:11 AM

So how much did you send her? :)

  16. Khaleef @ KNS Financial August 31, 2010 at 12:23 PM

“forgive you for forgiveness, I want to ask you money” – That’s almost as bad as her calling you ugly!!!

  17. J. Money August 31, 2010 at 12:40 PM

hahahah…. I am too funny! I told you I was drinking too many BEERS ;)

  18. Lauren - Richly Reasonable August 31, 2010 at 9:47 PM

I am so sharing this with everyone I know. What a positive way to solicit donations!

  19. J. Money August 31, 2010 at 9:58 PM

If you believe in “the secret” it just may come true!

  20. Scott September 1, 2010 at 3:30 PM

If Lasha hires a lawyer and can prove she’s a product of the state of Georgia educational system, she may be able collect her $180,000. It’s worth a shot, because I doubt (hope) no one is foolish enough to fall for this one.

  21. J. Money September 1, 2010 at 10:56 PM

unfortunately people do :( that’s why we get crap tons of spam every day – if it wasn’t working they’d have given up years ago! (but I like you’re thinking on failed educational system, haha…. clever)

  22. Andrew September 3, 2010 at 1:03 AM

It’s amazing how people can’t come up with crap better than this. It seems spam is just so unsophisticated given the day and age we live in. Great post and good for some laughs.

  23. Everett September 8, 2010 at 11:17 PM

That is hilarious. It’s so funny to see what people do to scam.
