The Magic 8-Ball: Google Style

You Googled My What?Man, it’s been almost a year since we last did this! Crazy…I seriously almost didn’t post this up as I thought it was only a month or two since our last one. Haha… time flies when you’re managing your money ;)

For anyone who missed the last Googlizing we did, I basically copy & paste a handful of questions people googled to get here and then I answer them all (one of the fun parts about blogging is seeing how people interact and get to your site – we all use some sort of tracking devices so watch out! haha….j/k.  sorta).

I try to stick w/ the ones that grab my attention or that can do us some good – minus all the porn references, which as you can imagine is a decent percentage with a name like Budgets are SEXYYYY.  Don’t mind the traffic, but obviously won’t be converting many of them into life-time readers ;)

Okay, so here we go…

discuss what job would you like to do in the future
You got it – I’d like to create an online empire where I blog and do fun financial projects all day long :)  On top of hitting up my top 10 jobs list too somewhere in between (Starbucks, Bank, …)

is 5 dollars a day good?
YES! Saving ANYTHING per day is good, but $5 in particular can eventually grant you Millionaire Status…esp if you  can wait 40 or so years ;)

average net worth in america
I actually looked for this myself back in ’08 and came across this awesome net worth tool from CNN Money. 2 years ago the average net worth for my age (28 at the time) was $2,125, and for my salary ($75k) was $244,100. I just ran the numbers again, and now we’re looking at a median average of $8,525 for age, and $301,475 for income.  Nowhere close to the net worth # right now, but def. killin’ the age average.

how much money is spent on clothes each year
I personally go through about $600 each year – and that’s AFTER giving up on major shopping ;)  (I think my monthly budget for clothes was around $150/mo – so not too shabby now)

scratch the right one lottery
If you find the secret, let me know!

make some extra money from blogging
This is definitely possible, but also takes a loooooot of time. And passion. Peter from Bible Money Matters wrote up an *excellent* post on this if you want a better idea: Advice from successful bloggers

“compare your net worth”
Already did silly – look 5 questions up.

sample club budget layout
You’ve come to the right place!  Put together the best budget templates I’ve found so far here, and then I always recommend for more automated stuff.

are guns a good investment
Hmmm….not touching that one.

are jewish people really wealthier?
Wow, DEFINITELY not this one either…

how much is lebron james net worth
This one cracks me up every time I see it – which is surprisingly a lot ;) I had to google the answer (hah!) and got bored after scouring around 5 minutes, but the closest I came was to a BBC article from 2008 saying he had earned a cool $270 Million so far.  Doesn’t show how much he’s actually “worth,” but it should give you a good idea….he’s a baller.  Literally.

Lebron James is supposedly a terrible tipper from what i hear 10$ on a 3,000$ bill with that kind of net worth…come on Lebron.

What? Really? Maybe he thought it was a $10,000 bill? ;)

  3. Rainy-Day Saver May 18, 2010 at 11:52 AM

You should do this feature more often — love it.

Some of the silly ones I’ve gotten lately:

    grammar police grand canyon
    out of penny wrappers
can a beagle fit through a cat door
funk up your junk rainy day ideas
how to make peeps go stale

  4. Young Mogul May 18, 2010 at 12:53 PM

These were fun to read. You should do them more often.

  5. Favor May 18, 2010 at 12:54 PM

These are fun to read :) It’s your fault that I use now!

  6. Peter May 18, 2010 at 5:01 PM

Thanks for the link love J.!

  7. James May 18, 2010 at 7:53 PM

dude that was a fun read – for average net worth in America is it talking about how much you make a month and how much you have in the bank saved. i read this fast but that part was kinda confusing…

  8. MyFinancialObjectives May 18, 2010 at 9:02 PM

Hah this is such a cool idea! not only were those interesting questions, but it was also interesting to see what people googled to get here. I spend a lot of time analyzing my stats, so maybe that’s why I thought it was cool. Nevertheless, cool post!

  9. simple in france May 19, 2010 at 2:37 AM

What a great idea! I get some of the weirdest searches coming into my blog as well. . .thanks for sharing.

  10. Keith @ LifeTuner May 19, 2010 at 9:40 AM

“Social media budget paying money nerd alert” LOL!

I just looked through Analytics for goofy searches leading to LifeTuner, and I didn’t find a single one! They were all incredibly tame: mortgage calculator, how to save money, can i auto pay my babysitter, etc. :)

  11. J. Money May 19, 2010 at 3:56 PM

@Rainy-Day Saver – grammar police grand canyon – hahahahhaaah….what on earth? I bet they meant to delete have of that before hitting submit. if not, we better watch out! :)
@Young Mogul – glad you liked, yeah i’ll try and do them more consistently. def. fun for me!
    @Favor – You owe me a beer :)
@Peter – Thanks for being awesome!
@James – You’ll have to click the link there and check it out…pretty cool – it will tell you where you fit in with your age group, and then also with the amount of money you earn – this way you can get closer to the variables. It’s not an exact science, but it gives you a nice idea of how your net worth is matching up.
@MyFinancialObjectives – haha, you’re not alone my friend! i’m trying to do my best to disregard them all, but it’s just too damn interesting :)
@simple in france – hey, you are supposed to share these weirdo responses with us ;)
@Keith @ LifeTuner – haha, I guess your SEO people are better at it than we are…our searches give us laughs, but yours bring in the profit! boring seems to bring in more revenue from what I’ve noticed.

Oh geez. I can only imagine what you’d get with the porn references.

And I’m a movie critic in one of my categories. One can perhaps only imagine what kind of searches I get XD

  13. J. Money May 31, 2010 at 8:28 PM

haha oh yeah, i bet you get some good ones! feel free to drop them off here anytime ;)
