Haha… I like the random bottles of Bud Light on there ;) Really don’t know what to say other than that. Just ehmm… WOW. #Ballin’

I would have loved to be the server getting that tip!!!!!!!
Well, that is a good point about the tip. BUT – that also brings to mind the whole mandatory 18% tip thing. I mean, yeah, the guy bought a lot of stuff, but even if that bartender opened and served every single drink, when does a tip become absurd? Did he really do enough work to constitute a $30 grand tip from one customer?
Yea thats some good times there :-) I need to fill out an application at this bar if I can pull 30g’s in an night… WOW I’m in the wrong business. Lets see how will I tell my current company to shuve it as soon as I get hired…. /devil grin
Vueve ye. I wonder what that tastes like
That bar tab is most definitely NOT sexy.
The tip is more than people make in a whole year. Wow. I thought I made a pretty decent amount of money in tips when I was bartending – but wow.
I need to talk to hubby about upping the liquor budget! :)
55 shots of Grey Goose? Dang, people got loaded!
$10 for a Bud Light ??? Now that’s just ridiculous !!!
Like Diane said, sweet night for the server.
I agree with Diane – I would have LOVED being the server that got almost a $30K tip! That’s half of my yearly salary right there!
Stuff like this annoys me (not that you posted it, but rather that it exists). In no way is this kind of stuff justified in any way. Is going out and having fun, making a big show of things ever justified? Sure. Everyone can have a good time, but this is more money than most people make in a year, two years, or even more, and what do you get to show for it besides a few people with hangovers? Nothing. People have mortgages of this size that they’ll be working to pay off for 25-30 years, yet whoever this is can leave a tip of over $20k? Ugh. In no part of the world I live in does this make sense!
Again, not shooting the messenger. Just saying!
Money Beagle – another way to look at it is that the person with this money helped stimulate the economy. $30 K in the server(s) pockets means a lot of purchasing power was spread around – thus saving or possibly creating a job.
So, maybe all the person who spent the money is left with is a hangover. But the ones who received the money are left with more revenue for their business and more $$ in their pockets to do either sound, financial things or equally ridiculous things. In anycase, money being spent fuels the economy and in my opinion, thats pretty “sexy”!
I’m just waiting for it to come out online as to WHO this belongs too :) It’s been all over Twitter lately, and someone has to know something, right? I need to know!!!! haha…
And I also bet it has to do with some sort of high-end “business meeting” or something. Like, wining dining celebs or super CEOs or something to close a multi-million dollar deal. Cuz then it’s kinda sorta more understandable. Like, something bigger would come out of it, ya know? But damn. Either way, so outta our leagues!
@diane – Haha, I know, right? No matter what was involved in the work, I’m sure $30k would take care of it ;) Unless you had to hide a body.
@Rachel211 – Goooooooood question. That’s what’s crazy about having it all based on the dollar amount. Whether you’re serving a $5 burger or a $500 one, it all takes same amount of effort. Maybe just more if you have to watch your mouth around “important” people. Who like to talk down to ya.
@Kevin – Haha, if you ever get the balls to do that I am SO flying out there to drink you beer :) And it better be free!!
@aldo – I hope gold! Haha… I’ve had some expensive $hit in my life time – Cristal, Dom, etc – but honestly it all tastes the same to me. In fact, Cristal was actually pretty bitter. The only thing it’s good for is feeling special ;)
@Allison – Only to look at in awe!
@Katie – Haha, for sure.
@tom – I think they’d be dead if it were just a few people ;)
@Michael Senchuk – Haha… it’s the one time that actually looks like a deal!
@Jennifer – Crazy, huh??
@Money Beagle – True dat, BUT but but – and not saying this is better or makes sense – BUT it could very well be that this is a “business meeting” between high-end clients and/or rock stars/athletes. Like, spending this $200k may result in a killer multi-million dollar deal or something. So it does’t make sense in OUR world, but it’s probably commonplace in theirs. Just a totally different piece of society. One that fascinates the pants off me ;)
@Katie – There you go! That’s a good way to look at it, haha… that’s great.
With this much money I could have bought 42,083 bottles of my favorite champagne from Walmart. Lol – it’s only $4.50 a bottle and tastes like a bubbly Boons Farm. ;)
Wow, I need new friends or business affiliates. lol jk
Seriously though, I think there are plenty of tabs like this on the Vegas strip; this is just the first one that has been posted for all to see.
If I am buying 5 bottles of Champagne at 25K a pop and assorted other high-end bottles, I don’t want to see the charges for bud lights, heinekens, and one redbull on my receipt, those should be the least of the comps on that outing. Unfortunately I wouldn’t be surprised the house kept a significant portion of the tip and tipped out the busboys, barbacks, etc a few bucks.
Yeah, my bar tab from Tryst was no where near that.
Hey J.Man. Thanks for picking up my tab, Dawg. I didn’t see you there. You must’ve come in after the third bottle.
I guess MB didn’t get his invite….Maybe next time!
@Rachel211 – Haha, I’m partying with you next time ;)
@Rafael @ Reis Financial – Yup, for sure. I can’t even fathom the amount of sick money getting passed around at any 24-hour point there. Insane!
@iggy – Huh. That’s a great point. Maybe they comped some other stuff that didn’t land on the bill? Like maybe they threw in an extra $25k bottle as a thanks?
@Jenna, Adaptu Community Manager – Yours just had the bud lights ;)
@Dr Dean – Haha, you’d have known it if I came out ;) I get hyper when I drink!
@J$ – Really? You should know me better than that. It’s all about the microbrews.
* This could also possibly be the bar tab for a whole event. Sometimes they just ring everything up all at the end of the night for whatever was consumed at the bar. But if that is the case then there should have been a much lower gratuity. If it was a whole event with 100 servers on hand, that would come out to about $300 a server for a tip, and depending on how fancy the party or the number of guests, that seems about right.
I mean, this could actually be a wedding party with expensive taste – that would be enough for a toast and some shots for those who wanted them – but a lot of times open bars for weddings (or any event really) can get seriously out of hand. I’ve known people (not rich people) who have had open bars at weddings only to be surprised when their guests leave them with a $3k to $5k bar tab alone for 100 people.
For what it’s worth, the POS system that they’re using has a “training mode” in which real checks will print, but the totals aren’t actually recorded as real revenue. It’s mostly for training new employees. It’s possible that this was simply a new employee playing around and running up a huge tab.
That bill is most likely legit. Every hotel worth anything has a nightclub in it now for that reason. Even Steve Wynn himself said he was impressed at how much his nightclub made. The tip policy Tryst has is pretty corrupt though. Servers have to share with management and back of house workers. Just like the Wynn dealers have to share their tips with their supervisors now. With all the money that flows through nightclubs and now dayclubs, the IRS wants their cut of the tip pool LOL. Interesting times these days, nothing stays in Vegas anymore because of the internet.
I’m pretty sure that bill was from a rapper, athlete, or trust fund baby. Those types like to show off. No business would spend that much money on alcohol these days. Well maybe Apple, Google, or Facebook execs…NOT! Those guys are too nerdy to party like that :)
Gotta add a lot of caveats here. Rachel211 is very correct this could easily be an event tab. At least its a large group. (That much alcohol cannot be legally consumed by a single person.) Regarding the $30k tip, while it seems like a lot, that is a significant amount of bottle service, which means multiple servers and a bartender. Not to mention that when I worked at a Vegas Hotel/Casino, the tips didn’t all go directly to the provider: as it should a portion went to the provider help (i.e., barbacks, cleaning staff), but the hotel also took a percentage as a “service fee.”
FYI, to the masses, most hotels have an automatic 300% markup on booze. It’s a lot smarter to walk a block or two to the inevitable liquor store.

At least some of that money goes to charity :)
I listened to this on the radio, it is pretty awesome to finally see pics of that event.
That’s more than I make in a YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, that literally had to be a group tab… what movie star was in Vegas this weekend?
@Jenna, Adaptu Community Manager – haha… yeah yeah
@Rachel211 – Yeah, ya never know! I actually hit up a club last night after a wedding and we (errr, they!) must have dropped at least $2-3k on the tables & bottle of liquor. I should have stayed long enough to snap a pic of the reciept! Dang it! haha… was a bit too, em, tipsy to think straigh though ;)
@Andrew – HAH! Now that would be funny ;) Esp if they dropped it on the floor on purpose, to see if anyone found it and thought it was real :) I would!!
@StackingCash – hahahaa… it was totally Steve Jobs’ bill ;) and that charity drive is DOPE!!! 100ft long receipt! Hahaha… nice.
@Andi B. – Yup! But not as sexy going down the street to take shots when all your friends are in dancing ;)
@South County Girl – I know, pretty crazy huh?
They owed more in tax from their boozing than I owe on my car…
Haha… now that’s some perspective.
Why isn’t the receipt gold? XD
Btw… 10 BUCKS for a BUD!? OUTRAGEOUS!
Haha… we never did find out who’s this was either :( Dang…
It’s not an event tab, it’s a member of a prominent family in Malaysia.
What? How do you know that? You figure out who it really belongs too? Would be interesting to know :)
A bar bill like that would leave any one with the mother
all hangovers the next day, I hope the person paying it
didnt have to remortgage his house,or declare himself bankrupt.
I just hope the person didn’t DRINK all of that! haha…
