USAA meets the iPad. And makes me jealous.

USAA iPad appI got a pretty cool email the other week from USAA. They asked me if I wanted to check out their new iPad app before the rest of the world saw it (woo!).

I really really did, but I really really also didn’t have an iPad :) Nor have I ever touched one in my entire life, haha… So they sent me one! And that’s where my jealousy starts…

For one thing, I now want one. It’s like a supersized iPhone just waiting to be played with. And for another, that app is CRAZY. As in crazy AWESOME. And I’m not just staying that, or getting paid for that matter (although I totally should… they might as well name me their official Mascot! Haha…) I’d actually never have to log in on a computer again w/ one of those things. Not that that’s totally horrible or anything, but the idea of it is incredibly sexy. Using your fingers to do some online banking? Shooooooot. Any day! And apparently this is the first app for the iPad that allows people to manage their insurance, banking, AND investments all in one place. But of course, you have to be a USAA member to rock it ;)

Sooooooooo for all my USAA readers out there, this is for you! If you’ve got an iPad, check it out and let us know what you think (it’s now live to everyone… I slacked on blogging about it earlier. Oops.):

More info (and video): USAA iPad app
Apple store (it’s free): Download app

PS: For those wondering, I had to return the iPad. I considered stealing it but of course USAA knows where I live and would then cut me off from all my accounts! Instead, I just cried for 2 hours.)

I am in the opposite boat. iPad and no USAA :(

  2. Chris February 22, 2011 at 8:57 AM

I loaded the USAA app as soon as it was available. Love the ease of it!

Ha ha J on ‘considered stealing it’!!!! I think that is very funny…I think since you are an unofficial spokesperson for USAA you should beg them…after all they get tons of publicity from your blog and I am sure people have joined up because of you.

Cross your fingers and quite soon they will send you the iPad to KEEP…..then we won’t need to have a fundraiser to bail you out of jail for stealing it.

I’m still SO jealous!!! I haven’t gotten a chance to play w/it yet! I think you should’ve begged to keep it, too…c’mon now, you must have SOME pull there *wink*

C’mon Trinnie, you can just play with mine!

J.Mo., it’s an awesome app, and I’ve only played with it a little bit. The policies section are organized like a iBooks bookcase, so you click on the folder, and it opens up to show you the particulars. The whole interface looks like a desktop, and they paid a lot of attention to detail.

This just in, you can also download the USAA App used for your I-phone to your I-pod touch 4th generation. I just purchased one this weekend and added the app.

@sarah – opposite as in you don’t *want* an iPad or USAA? or opposite in that you can’t have both? either way i hope your :( turns into a :)
@Chris – Sweet! That you have an iPad too ;)
@Lulu – Haha… true dat. But they’re pretty good to me, I must admit. They got my back :) It would suck if they were horrible people cuz then I wouldn’t ENJOY promoting them!
@Trinnie S – Hey, I’m not the one who works there! *wink*
@Erin – There you go – love the team spirit :) And yeah – that’s why I really like it so much – it’s just EASY. On getting things done, and on the eyes. They know what they’re doing. Although more importantly they’re keeping our money safe! ;)
@Ken – Nice!! Thx for letting us know bro.

I just wish I had an iPad or an iPod touch to check out cool apps. I’m not a member of USAA either, but it sounds really cool that you can check your banking, insurance and investments all in one place. I may have to look into it. Oh look, you are good at marketing for them. :)

@Erin–rub it in!!! When we got info on the new app, we got to see a preview “video” and it took all I had not to buy an iPad the day the app got launched! Especially since our bonus hit around that time! I’ve heard that the bill pay option is SO EASY!

@J-dude! you have more pull than I do! You’re the one that’s getting iPads sent to you and going to visit home office! I had to go on a family trip to SA in order to visit home office! I’m just the low man on the totem-pole, brutha!

Oh man, now I really need an iPad

  11. Andrea February 22, 2011 at 2:41 PM

My dogs shot me a crazy look after I laughed at your comment about USAA naming you as their official Mascot… when my husband and I were dating he would tease me about being the “poster child” for USAA and that was usually my answer… 15 years later of him being a member, he’s now spouting it’s greatness. I’d rather never have and ipad (and I want one pretty bad) then give up USAA.

“I’d rather never have and ipad then give up USAA.” — AMEN to that!

  13. Carol February 22, 2011 at 3:20 PM

Andrea, so very true. I’d never give up USAA (over 30 years now). I thought it would be a surefire dating attraction for a future Mr. Right …

  14. HedgeHoncho February 22, 2011 at 7:22 PM

Damn, that must be nice to be sent a free IPAD…even if you have to return it!

  15. StackingCash February 23, 2011 at 2:56 AM

Maybe you should buy an iPad, or wait for the iPad2. Life is too short to suffer :)

  16. J. Money February 23, 2011 at 12:37 PM

Actually, since I’ve sent it back I don’t even miss it! So perhaps I avoided the money trap ;)

  17. Kira February 25, 2011 at 4:49 PM

J – you didn’t avoid the money trap, you’re just waiting for the iPad 2, which should be announced next week. *wink*

I got the iPad app when it first came out. It’s pretty cool (as is their iPhone app). The only thing it really doesn’t have is online trading built in. If USAA built in even nominal online trading, it would be like the ETrade iPad app on steroids!

And yes, to everyone out there, the iPad is as useful to have as being a USAA Member. But I would still give up my iPad in a heartbeat if I had to choose between the two!

  18. J. Money February 28, 2011 at 7:33 PM

hell yeah! same here. USAA is worth way more than a handful of Benjamins, no doubt.
