“The Purpose Code” – New Book and Giveaway!

Morning friends!

A blogger friend of mine recently came out with a new book, and it’s centered around one of the things that occupies my brain way more than I care to admit ;)

The purpose of life.

And apparently I’m not alone, as this “purpose anxiety” apparently affects 91% of people! Crazy!

So odds are you’ve struggled with this too, which makes this book a perfect read – and giveaway! – for everyone today. It’s called, “The Purpose Code“, and here’s more about it via Amazon:

“The Purpose Code”
How to unlock meaning, maximize happiness, and leave a lasting legacy

the purpose code

Purpose can change your life.

Having a sense of purpose has been scientifically proven to help people find happiness, longevity, and health.

But lots of us are also worried about purpose―purpose anxiety has been estimated to affect as much as 91% of people.

What’s going on? And how do we do purpose the right way―to unlock all its many benefits, set goals in life, make a mark and journey from anxiety to legacy?

This question set hospice doctor and writer Jordan Grumet on a quest, and The Purpose Code shares his remarkable findings to help you change your future forever. The result is a self-development book like no other.

It turns out that we fundamentally misunderstand purpose and the role it plays in our lives. In fact, there are two different types of purpose. One will lead to anxiety and disillusionment; the other will lead to connection and lasting legacy.

In The Purpose Code, Jordan will:

  • Chart a course for you to reach happiness through understanding the deep human truths behind the concepts of Meaning and Purpose (including life review therapy and simple ways of healing generational trauma)
  • Equip you with a practical and proven framework for unlocking your real purpose, and show you the life-changingly enjoyable way to climb to goals, regardless of your situation in life
  • Arm you to differentiate between the two types of purpose when finding life purpose (and show you the hidden reasons why one is always more fulfilling than the other)
  • Set you on the way to building a genuinely lasting impact long after you’re gone.

Finding happiness has never been about creating big audacious goals that we may or may not be able to achieve. True contentment comes from filling our lives with enriching activities that lead to connection and, ultimately, legacy. Swap grand but ultimately empty success books for this small goals book, and begin creating your true purpose today.

Here’s how to enter for your chance to win one of TWO (free) copies:

Answer this question down below in the comments, or via email if you’re reading this there, and you’ll be automatically entered to win :)

How close are you, do you think, to knowing your purpose on this Earth?

Get your entries in by this Sunday at midnight, and I’ll randomly select the two winners the following day!

Personally, I think I’m around 70% at the moment. The one thing I feel called to do, and enjoy!, is helping others in some form or fashion, and it seems the more I do that the happier I tend to get. Thus, why I made it this year’s 10-2 Challenge! Maybe it’s not my ultimate purpose in life (if there even IS such a thing?) but it def. feels like I’m moving in the right direction, so I’m gonna keep on going until something stops me :)

How about you? What % do you think you’re at right now? Either way, keep waking up and doing your best to appreciate at least being alive!! It’s not always fun, but it sure beats the alternative….

Your friend, now and forever – even in death,

PS: I made that image up top through Midjourney :) I literally asked it to design me “the purpose of life” and it came out pretty cool!

*** Giveaway now over! ***

Congrats to Sheila S. and Ann for winning! Everyone else, be sure to look for it at your local library! I bet it ups your % soon after :)

Finding your purpose is a lifelong endeavor. Each morning I wake up in anticipation of what the day will bring, open to opportunities to learn and connect with others. I hope i never fully recognize my purpose as the search for your purpose is part of the journey. We are always learning, changing and growing.

This is the toughest question on the exam of life. Is there truly an answer? There are those “a-ha” moments but I feel our purpose is forever changing and evolving. So my very aloof answer is, I’m really not sure. :)

    Hey J,
I feel like i’m pretty much there.. I’ve always had a strong feeling that my kids are my purpose! Trying to provide them with what they need for a fulfilling life, so they can enjoy it to the max and hopefully do the same for their future kids (if they wish to have them!) I lack a religious aspect in my life, so i literally and figuratively believe kids are our purpose for living LOL

I HOPE I’m 50% toward figuring out my purpose in life lol.
Getting older has definitely changed my perspective on many things and helped clarify what I hope to do with my remaining years.
The book rec sounds great, thanks!

I’m up and down about my thoughts on where I am with respect to knowing if I have found my purpose. As my roles have changes through life, what fills my bucket and lights me up has also changed. Listening to DocG share thoughts on this topic on many podcasts has been lots of food for thought.

For me, the meaning of life on this earth is to find joy and purpose in the connections I make with others around the world, the experiences I cherish, and the growth I achieve. It’s about making a positive impact net-net, no matter how small, and continuously learning and evolving. Putting a number on how close I am to finding that purpose is hard, because it’s hard to know if any deliverable is understood well enough to say what 100% really is. But I’ll throw out 49%…..almost half way there……

I 100% think you’re onto something there with the “connectedness” part… It would be hard to thrive completely on your own, at least for me.

I’ve been retired for about 4 years now, do my “work” is all done.

My purpose now is both personal/hedonistic, and a great way to live: Have love and gratitude for everything around me, and truly enjoy every good experience because our time here expires unexpectedly.

Your purpose changes with the decades. First two decades were education. After that, it was to my BA and MBA degree. It was then to get a good job, buy house, get married. Between 35 and 55 it was raising two children, as I was later in life to have kids. For the next five years, it’s paying for education for the kids as that’s so important for them to start their lives. Purpose for the next 10 years is my retirement at 60 and start living for myself rather than everybody else going forward. However, it’s spending time with your family, as well as having time to explore the world you’ve delayed up till this point due to your other obligations.

That seems to be growing consensus that purposes change over the years… Interestingly for me i don’t think i ever knew my purpose or could even figure it out the first 30-something years of my life, and wasn’t until I got older that it started forming… Education and responsibility and all that were still on my list, but I guess more as a “priority” vs a purpose?

This is such an interesting question! I would say I’m about 50% of the way there. It’s definitely something I have reflected on quite a bit, but I also see my perspective changing as I get older, so I think there’s still a ways to go. :)

10%. I managed to climb the corporate ladder and found out there is no honey for at the end of the rainbow. I joke that I’d rather herd sheep (probably because I never herded sheep). I gave up good salaries to get jobs with higher “purpose”, but I still haven’t found enjoyment in them, on the contrary. Yesterday I learned my friend, who is younger than me, has cancer. I am quitting my job at the end of the month to figure out what to do next. No complaints though, this is definitely a first world problem.

Hey J Money! Hope you are well today. I have been thinking about your question since I read it Monday morning. Even with all this thought regarding one question, I am still not quite sure I can pinpoint a %. I would say I have multiple purposes on this planet. Of course the service to others is my clear purpose, but, to what extent and who are the others. At Work, I am responsible for coaching and mentoring the future leaders of the office. I also run a Wellness Committee where we spread and share all things wellness, including your blog. :) At home< I have a wife and now three grown children and two grandchildren. These are all the people I serve in one shape or size.. So maybe, I think I want to say I am at a 100%, but, I think there may still be more for me to discover, so we will say 75.56% As always, thanks for being here for us. Have a great day

I envy people who are driven, or have a calling. Not having that kind of focus/purpose is a huge source of existential angst! I occasionaly choose a “purpose for now”, but it’s usually about doing something thankless for others and comes from a depressed state of mind. My purpose at the moment is to keep my senior mom and senior dog safe, clean, healthy and loved. But 0% life purpose to do with myself. I have Doc G’s first book, Taking Stock…would love this one :)
