Hey guys!
So in an effort to be more “present” for our upcoming move and really soak everything in, I’ll be taking a break from blogging for the month of July (and the first week of August while we family vacay) to help slow down life more and enjoy the upcoming changes in our life :)
I’ve caught myself trying to rush through everything here and overlook the joys a new home and city brings, and after hearing about how excited my boys were this week (“this is going to be the best time of our lives!!”) I realized I don’t want to miss an ounce of it :)
So the blog and newsletters will be paused for the next handful of weeks, but we’ll be sure to come back as we always do and re-start the party when we’re nice and re-charged. So don’t go too far away! And if you suffer from any withdrawal, you can always find me on email or social as I’m not brave enough to disconnect fully of course, haha…
In the meantime, have a most blessed – and fun!!! – summer month over there! And thank you for reading the blog all year! 🙏🙏
Yours in finance,
PS: If you’re thinking of taking a sabbatical and need a little push like I do at times, here are two articles that may do the trick :) I haven’t regretted taking any of them yet!

Good call, brother. This is what it’s all about.
Good luck with the move.
Thanks G! Can you believe we’re both still in this a decade later???? :)
Good luck with the move! Smart plan – family comes first. Enjoy their new chapter with the family and make those memories. Catch you in August.
Thank you LeeAnne. Been nice getting to know you in the recent months :)
Have a good move and a great holiday. I look forward to your return in August.
Thank you, sir.
I want a full report of your finances when I’m back, please ;)
Enjoy your time away! I hope everything goes smoothly with the move. :)
Thank you! I’ll count it a win if we only break 3 things :)
Good luck with moving. It’s so stressful.
Take it easy for a bit.
will do! we decided to do it all ourselves so it’ll def. be a practice of both patience and endurance ;)
Great idea, J. A wise man once told me it takes courage to take a sabbatical. ;) I’m halfway through a 3 month sabbatical, and savoring every second of The Present. Enjoy!
Life is good!!
I love your decision. Be fully present during this transition to and enjoy the family. All the best to you & see you soon :)
Thanks Deanna, much love!
Good choice! Just a little reminder from the other side of the pond: 4-5 weeks off in summer is not a sabbatical but a vacation, and should be taken annually ;)
Enjoy your summer! I’m currently taking 8 weeks off and really happy with my decision. The goal is to be itching to so work at the final week.
Haha nice… and doing it every summer isn’t a bad idea ;)
Have a wonderful time off! I’m working towards a *gasp* WHOLE WEEK OFF in the middle of the summer and am hoping to really truly totally be off from work things (blogging doesn’t count since I don’t make real money from it :D) too.
I hope you can do it!!! And then next time go for TWO WHOLE WEEKS – *gasp*! :)
Have a good vacation! Movacation?
I support the idea of making it an annual habit. European style ;)
(Ironically, not mine this year. I wish, but I’m saving days for my own movacation.)
Movacation – i like it, haha…
Good Luck with the move J and of course enjoy that break to spend time with the family during that hectic period.
Thanks!! We’re all moved in now and the fun of unpacking begins! :)
Enjoy the time off, the new house, and your family! A sabbatical is on my list of things to do. I am heading back to work this morning after only a week off!
Max
Hey, that’s something!! Maybe you can double it each time until you get to a month :)
That is awesome! I have heard three moves is the same as a fire. So probably every third box can just go – helps clear the clutter! Good luck and congrats!
Hah! I bet there is some truth to that!
I give you credit for moving in the July heat. I’ve done it 3 times & it’s not easy! Hope you enjoy your time off & start making some wonderful memories in your new home!
Thanks Debbie! Outside of an emergency room visit for one of my kids it’s been pretty good so far! lol…
OMG! Is he okay????? Sending prayers your way.
he is, yes – thanks! in fact, he swears it didn’t even hurt him once ounce, getting the big gash in his head (slipped on concrete and busted it open!) OR getting the 4 staples in his head to close it up, haha.. either he’s a really good liar or super tough dude :) and in either case is doing just fine, outside of having to stay away from the pool for a while until it mends!
Good for you J$. :)
Bad for us going through withdrawal expecting your Net Worth Update on August 1st. :(
Sorry! haha…
it’ll be posted once I’m back for sure :) see you in two weeks!
It’s August 4th already. I miss you.
miss y’all too!
will be right back after my family vacation here at the beach :)
sometime early next week – promise!
Very True.. Family is First
