Selling Your Virginity for Money

Virginity and Money There are chicks actually doing this – can you believe it? Selling your virginity for money?! Oh man, talk about entrepreneurs ;)

But let me ask you this. Honestly, if you could take it back – knowing what you do now about it all – would YOU give up yours for a large amount of money? And if you say no, which I’m guessing 85% of you will (you know we’ll have some guys raise their hands on this one), is there a price point that would change your mind?

It’s funny. Whenever I hear about this stuff the first thing that crosses my mind is “What the f*ck?” WHO would do that? But then as I read their stories it gets less offensive for some reason. They need the money to go to college, or they need a new house, etc etc. I’m not saying I agree with it or that I’d do it myself (I wouldn’t – I’m a good little Catholic boy) but I find it extremely interesting that others would. I mean, they’re not only doing something so out of normalcy here, but they’re doing it publicly!!! For everyone to see – knowing they’re gonna get slammed for it! (no pun intended) It’s absolutely stunning.

And if you think about it, you KNOW it’s going to be the safest sex ever. The winner/highest bidder will get checked out like none other to make sure he’s (she’s?) clean as a whistle, and there will be bodyguards everywhere making sure the guy’s not a psychopath. Which, lets be honest, would be hard not to come across as.

Unless, perhaps, the person “buying her” does it in order for her NOT to give it up! It’s a long shot, but anything’s possible right? If you had a billion dollars and were totally against this nonsense, would you jump in and save her? I sure as hell would. If I were clever enough to think of it first ;) Can you imagine the press I’d get for Budgets Are Sexy doing that!! Or even working on BUDGETING that in? haha…oh man, good times.

But enough about me, what do you guys think?
And what do you *honestly* think, not the answer you know we want to hear ;) Is there a price that you just couldn’t turn down? Say, $2 million dollars? Or are there just some things that are strictly off the table?

I'm actually fully supportive of prostitution if that's what someone wants to do. And if someone's dumb enough to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for a roll in the hay, that's their prerogative. The only thing that bothers me is the girls doing the 'virginity' sales (there was another one last year0 is they feel this is the ONLY way they can make up the money, so it strikes me like they're being coerced into it indirectly. It's one thing if youR thought pattern is 'I like sex. I like getting money. I think I'll go do both of those at once' than if you feel so desperate you think it's your last resort.

That said, even though I'm a proponent of legal prostitution, there's no amount of money that could get me to do it unless my kids were going to starve in the street or something. I wasn't even interested in having one night stands, so I don't think I could convince myself to have sex with a stranger for money unless it was the last thing between my kids and doom.

  2. speesh February 8, 2010 at 1:44 PM

It's prostitution, however you slice it. So if you're comfortable with that, so be it.
Still, under normal circumstances, some young lad would only take her out, pay for flowers, pay for dinner, pay into a disco, pay for drinks, pay for a taxi home, pay for…oh yeah, exactly the same…

  3. Anonymous February 8, 2010 at 1:56 PM

No, thank you. Whether I'm rich or poor, I still have to live with myself and if I don't like myself, no amount of money is going to help that reality. Doing something like this, would make me not like myself very much. Besides, there's work at the Post Office…

  4. Bucksome February 8, 2010 at 1:59 PM

Although I don't agree with what these women are doing, it seems like they have good uses planned for the money.

What about the guys that would buy it? They seem pretty slimy.

  5. Brandi February 8, 2010 at 2:52 PM

I agree with a few of the things said on both sides.

At the end of the day I do have to live with myself and I don't honestly think I could do it and be ok with it.

But then, especially with the recent love life dramas I've had, I have a hard time not using the logic "Dude…people give it up for free all the time". No one's perfect. Most of us bend our own personal moral laws when the situation presents itself. I'm no different. And while I can honestly say I've never had a one night stand…the majority of the people who have would probably rather have been paid for it. Kinda like my teaching fitness classes…if I'm gonna work out anyway, why not get paid for it right?

If it wasn't so tabboo would this even be that big an issue for most people?

  6. I'm still here... February 8, 2010 at 3:55 PM

I don't see a problem with it. Yes, it's prostitution but this isn't the kind where someone else is making a profit off her misfortune. As a 20-something female, I can tell you that there have been a few occasions where it was so bad I feel like I should have been compensated in some way. So, if you're going to do it and its gonna suck anyway… why not get paid?

I think this upsets some people because they can't "imagine" a circumstance so hard that they would resort to prostitution to solve their problems.

But I'll be completely honest. If someone walked up to me right now with enough cash to pay off my current debt (school loans, credit card, car), put me through Grad School, and fund my dream trip around the world and all they wanted was sex… I'd be sold.

  7. Philip February 8, 2010 at 4:03 PM

Oh the google search hits that you will start getting to your page… Sexy and Virginity thrown in together!

  8. Anonymous February 8, 2010 at 4:25 PM

I personally would not do it. It's prostitution, plain and simple. Don't sugar coat it with dreams of going to college or buying a house. Those girls are whoring themselves out. In a year they'll be stripping.

I'm sure it's very tempting to young women, especially pretty ones. I'm 24 with a great body and a pretty face and I'm sure I could make money by the truckload stripping, but there is such a thing as dignity. I'm sorry, but my body is a temple and it's reserved for my husband only. I'm not going to let men pay to see me naked when I know I'm worth WAY more than a few dollar bills. Same goes for virginity. There used to be a time when virginity was coveted. Now it's a joke. The women who sell it and the men who buy it make it out to be a joke.

  9. Investing Newbie February 8, 2010 at 5:17 PM

I'm sorry, but what young girl NEEDS $2 million dollars? No seriously? If you are trying to go to school, you'll need max $200,000 for a private college. But the heck are you doing with $2 million dollars?

Oh, I know. You've already taken the Economics AP exam in high school and you realize that supply is extremely limited but demand is through the roof. So you are going to let market forces run with this and do what you have to do.

Don't judge only her people. There is a market for this. She wouldn't have even thought of it, if virginity wasn't so "coveted" by males to begin with.

But that's her. Me? I'm too tainted by social norms to even answer this in a clear sense.

  10. kenyantykoon February 8, 2010 at 5:22 PM

i wouldn't sell my virginity for anything unless i am some sort of man-whore and i am almost dying of hunger. i also would not spend millions of dollars of my cash just to get a vestal virgin. the way i see it a virgin girl is just like a good stock. if you excercice due diligence and be willing to do your homework vis-a-vis long to very great lengths, there is no reason why you should fail to get one. they are everywhere, you just need to know how to look. i also read somewhere that the latino chicks really value theirs so if i fail to get one in the neck of my woods, i am hoping on the next jet to san paulo :)

  11. Money Reasons February 8, 2010 at 5:23 PM

First let me say that your line "Oh man, talk about entrepreneurs" made me lol in the library (I go to the library to blog…)! I kept waiting for the "Shhhh" reprimand to come from the librarian, but luckily she wasn't around ;)

Honestly, I say it depends on your finacial situation, and your culture and country.

In our culture it's not acceptable, and to have such and activity lowers that bar for all of us. Plus it makes it harder to take a woman serious when they can be bought for pleasure (even if it's just one time).

Another negative side effect would be the violation of minors. Minors can get in to bars with fake ids, and I'm sure they would bring a premium price for businesses that sell their virginity. (I feel like talking about buying meat – which might not be far from the truth)

As I guy I have (put in nice terms) great respect for sex and enjoy it immensely, but the side effects of "buying virginity" to American (or any civilized) society just isn't worth it.

As for guy selling their virginity, well I don't believe there is much demand for that unless it's a homosexual relationship. And I'm not even going to go there!

Interesting post, pandora's box lid can really fly far on this one ;)

  12. ChristopherFM February 8, 2010 at 5:30 PM

    LOL @ Philip…traffic indeed.

That's a bit of a moral quandary. In the end, you have to deal with whatever choices you make. I'm nobody to judge these young women, but I really think there can be other ways.

But you know what they say…sex sells.

  13. thriftygal February 8, 2010 at 6:44 PM

wasn't this a standard practice for geisha's in the past? don't know if that still happens!

  14. Anonymous February 8, 2010 at 7:25 PM

This seems to be young girls who want to raise money for school, cars, whatever; and see their only asset as selling sex or virginity. None of this is a merit trait that extends beyond the body. If it were a guy, he'd get a job, think of a business idea or try some other way to work the system intelligently, but he wouldn't be sacrificing himself to do it. The equivalent for a guy would be robbing a store to earn money right away; that's what this seems like for a girl to be doing.

It is also very short term driven. There will always be something a girl wants, and if the only way she can think of to get money is to sell her body she's going to run out of options soon or become a full time prostitute once the stigma of it fades for her. The moral hurdle is always in the first fall– the rest becomes easier to fall to.

Will she regret it? Maybe not immediately, but she will if she ever tries to lead a more virtuous life like she probably will in 5 years.

  15. Anonymous February 8, 2010 at 7:57 PM

Societal norms create what's considered to be right/wrong in this world. With that being said, I personally think it's fine.

Whatever you want to call it: a job, prostitution, etc. It's all some form of bartering. Why the big fuss? Because society condemns such actions.

Too many things are left covered up in this world. It's like, people..wake up and smell the freakin' coffee! This is happening and it's been happening for many years.

    -Audrey

  16. Craig February 8, 2010 at 8:08 PM

Of course people are going to say it's wrong or not moral to do so, but the reality is who cares? Let her do what she wants to do and let the free market take its course.

  17. Ryan February 8, 2010 at 8:35 PM

I don't see the problem. Selling stuff is legal. Sex is legal. But selling sex isn't?

Why is pornography OK but prostitution isn't? The only difference is the former includes a camera…

  18. idida February 8, 2010 at 8:58 PM

Knowing what I know now abt sex, I would do it.
Women sleep all the time with guys that do not give you SHIT anyway
Why not get paid while doing so? sounds like prostitution yeah..but all those girls that get money for shopping, a nice car, etc..for dating a guy ..it is abt the same thing. Please..let the girls get their money. At least it is THEIR CHOICE. Women all over the world as young as 7 lose their virginity to 89 year old man and they are suffering and have no choice. So..it aint for everybody. If it works for them, it works for me. Get Money!

  19. Punch Debt In The Face February 8, 2010 at 9:06 PM

    I sold my virginity for money…twice :)

    1. breo April 26, 2016 at 3:53 PM

      how twice?? huh?

  20. Money Honey SF February 8, 2010 at 10:51 PM

I heard of this scandal years back. The women were trying to bid up their virginity to the wealthiest men suitors out there. Reminds me of a scene from the movie "TAKEN". Stories like this happens frequently outside the U.S. And how do you know if she is still a virgin? Anyhow, this is sick and immoral no matter what.

  21. leslie February 8, 2010 at 11:09 PM

I am not against others doing that but I absolutely could not. And I know this because I have considered it to great lengths. For me, I would hate knowing that there is a price on my body like that. And every time I acknowledge my zero student loan debt, I would just feel dirty. I certainly wouldn't feel proud or comfortable telling others, which makes me realize that it's something I just could not do. No matter how tempting the idea is…

  22. Anonymous February 8, 2010 at 11:45 PM

What's MORE sick to me is all the people on here who think it's FINE. "Too many things are left covered up in this world. It's like, people..wake up and smell the freakin' coffee! This is happening and it's been happening for many years." Really? What sick world do you live in where selling one's viriginity is NORMAL and OK?! Would you be proud of YOUR daughter if she did so? How about your mother? What if it were your little sister? How about your future wife?

Just because it's apparently been going on for many years doesn't mean it's right. If everyone jumps off a bridge, would you? I didn't think so.

Sex should be something that is valued, treasured. I don't understand one-night stands. I'm not saying you have to be married to have sex, but you should at least care deeply about the person you're doing it with. I realize I'm in the minority here, but some things in this world SHOULD remain cherished and somewhat sacred.

  23. Anonymous February 9, 2010 at 12:48 AM

I am SO going anon for this!

I'm a virgin and think it would be ace to get paid to lose it! haha.

I'm quite good looking I think but I'm male so somehow I don't think I'm getting dollar any time soon.

People used to believe that having a virgin would cure their syphilis, which would explain a willingness to pay a premium. Of course, what would happen is that the no-longer virgin would likely find herself infected.

  26. Anonymous February 9, 2010 at 2:34 AM

I think it is sad that anyone would do that. They might think it's ok or empowering because it's on their terms but somewhere down the road I think they will realize that it was a mistake.

  27. Charlene February 9, 2010 at 2:13 PM

It's not the monetary transaction that should concern people here. It's the fact that there are men that value sex with a virgin over other sex that should trouble us. It's the fact that many people who are judging these girls will be judging them not because they are selling sex, but because they are selling virginity. We still live in an inequitable society that prizes female virginity. Boys are not taught that their virginity is "special" but girls are. Girls are expected to "save" their virginity, while no such demands are made of boys. Girls are taught this by the patriarchal society, which, despite how far we've come, still in subtle and not-so-subtle ways attempts to control the sexuality of women.

  28. Monevator February 9, 2010 at 2:44 PM

Let's be honest, under circumstances you're describing (safe, secure) you'd almost be crazy as a male to say no to being paid to lose their virginity with a woman.

Not only do they get money – they'll save hundreds if not thousands in fruitless alcohol bills and displacement World of Warcraft subscriptions.

  29. Monevator February 9, 2010 at 2:49 PM

I just read the article, which makes it clear the circumstances were almost the opposite of safe ideal described in your post!

Clearly, meeting creepy men in pubs and getting really drunk before sex isn't an ideal way for a girl to lose her virginity.

However it's how many do, minus the money!

  30. J. Money February 9, 2010 at 7:05 PM

THANK YOU ALL for being so honest! I am blown away by some of your comments, esp those that would go through with it! haha…I knew we'd find some takers ;) Here are some responses:

@Mama Geek – Interesting, esp about the kids vs. doom part! appreciate your honesty :)
@Anonymous (1) – Yeah, you def. have to be cool with living with yourself afterward for sure.
@Brandi – Probably not. Sex is just as taboo as money is ;) So when you combine them both it's like CRAZY taboo! haha…
@I'm still here… – HAH! You better be careful, I bet there's someone reading this that would actually take you up on it!!! ;) Thx for being honest.
@Philip – Just an ordinary day here at Budgets Are Sexy!
@Anonymous (2) – Very valid points, I can def. appreciate that. I think my wife would 100% agree with you too :)
@Investing Newbie – Guess if someone's going to go through with it, better get more bang for her buck! (no pun intended this time)
@kenyantykoon – OMG you are too much! haha… "the way i see it a virgin girl is just like a good stock… they are everywhere, you just need to know how to look."
@Money Reasons – Hey, gotta liven it up every now and then here ;) Good point on the varying cultures though – it's totally legal and possibly "ok" in some places for all we know.
@thriftygal – Yeah, perhaps with geishas. Although they didn't ever get paid THAT much…or did they get paid at all?
@Anonymous (3) – "There will always be something a girl wants, and if the only way she can think of to get money is to sell her body she's going to run out of options soon or become a full time prostitute once the stigma of it fades for her" – Interesting, I like that. Doesn't even touch upon the excitement she might get from it too!
    @Audrey – Haha…it is, indeed, a form of bartering ;)
@Craig – Touche. But you know it's fun to think about :)
    @Ryan – Hahhahhaha….oh man, you're good.
@idida – This is true, it's def. their choice.
@Punch Debt In The Face – Might have to give it up again on your Wedding night (*gasp!*)
@Money Honey SF – yeah, that's the concern I'd have as a guy trying to buy it. i'm no doctor, but i find it had to believe you can verify that accurately. it's a good thing i'd never need to ;)
@leslie – Wow, you've considered it at great lengths? so interesting!!! probably learned a lot about yourself in doing it, but if you ever want to guest post about it later do holler :)
@Anonymous (4) – Love the passion! That line you said is a great one to keep in mind – "Would you be proud of YOUR daughter if she did so?" – I'd be horrified. Even more so if my mother did it! Although, i guess technically that's not possible unless she did it before making me ;) Oooh but what if I were a product of it?! scary.
    @Anonymous (5) – Haha…yes, us males don't get as much credit do we ;)
@Ariella – "People used to believe that having a virgin would cure their syphilis" – What? for real? interesting!
@Charlene – You bring up some good points. sex w/ virgin vs. sex w/out. same with girls valueing it more over guys, although I def. valued it more growing up than normal I think. but in overall I think you're right.
@Monevator – Yeah, i couldn't find the one that talked about it being set up in a safe way, but I think that's a big fact to consider

  31. Ginger February 9, 2010 at 7:19 PM

Yes, I would consider it, assuming I had full control over the terms and situation, etc.

My views differ from most of conservative North America and I don't think virginity is something that needs to be held in such high regard. It's just a temporary state of being. But since it IS something that is put on a pedestal…

Well. I'm a businesswoman at heart. If I could make a killing AND get rid of the ball-n-chain that is virginity these days, I would do it! Perceptions and society are changing, and why should anyone have a say over another adult person's body?

However I wouldn't make such a big production out of it, I'd keep things discreet so my future wasn't ruined.

  32. J. Money February 10, 2010 at 4:46 PM

Yes, you are definitely a business woman my friend! I like your comment about keeping it discreet….I wonder if that would change people's answers and/or these girls in question if they knew not an ounce of it would escape to the public?

  33. Ryan @ Planting Dollars February 13, 2010 at 6:08 AM

Talk about pressure to perform… wow

  34. Haley October 12, 2010 at 5:30 PM

I am currently 17 years old. I am still a virgin and at this point I am pretty much sold on selling my virginity. I have always been the type of person not to give a crap what people thought. Honestly, I doubt I will be a virgin until I get married. So if it sucks anyway why not make it suck for big bucks. You can say that it’s not moral or whatever. But let’s be honest her. Were you a virgin when you got married. Have you ever cheated on your husband/wife. Morally that is no better than what I plan on doing. I reliaze that if I go through with it people will judge me. But i have dealt with that my whole life. And everyone can say that I don’t respect myself or I have low-self esteem. That is totally not true. I love everything about myself. If I didn’t I would change it. I am very mature. And I am a wonderful person. I would give my last dollar to someone if they needed it. So what if it is prostitution. Honestly I don’t care. And you can critize people for what they are doing. But all I have to say now is as long as I am okay with what I plan to do. What everyone else’s feels doesn’t matter.

    1. Dan January 18, 2018 at 9:54 AM

Good for you. I hope you get a ton of $ and that he treats you like a princess (& gets you off too). Heck, hopefully you’ll even learn something – Most lose it to a guy that is just as clueless as how to satisfy a woman as she is to satisfying him.

I assume it’s taxable income? Pay for your education, buy a house, a new car, and set up a retirement fund. Come out of college with no debt and essentially no expenses. Go for it.

      1. Dan January 18, 2018 at 9:56 AM

Just saw this was from 2010…lol. Did you do it?

  35. J. Money October 14, 2010 at 10:59 AM

Hey, ya gotta do what you gotta do, right? Although not sure why you think it sucks to lose your virginity? I think if you were with the right person it would be awesome :) But yeah, at some point you’ll lose it you’re right. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, pretty interesting hearing another side so up close like that.

  36. Destiny February 14, 2011 at 7:52 PM

I am a Virgin.. and i would like to say that i am not struggling financially, but if someone were to offer me A milliondollars– No less, i would do it.. Y not??? its a million dollars. be foreal!!

  37. someone with an opinion March 5, 2011 at 12:38 PM

Personally, I wouldn’t do it. But I can understand someone who might consider it. College, bills, medical expenses…. it can get really expensive especially in this economy. If you had younger siblings and/or family to take care of, I could see the logic behind it. I’ve lived in a third world country where children are prostituting themselves out at the age of 12 to feed their familes, who can’t afford to go to school and working 12 hour days to earn $3. They would jump at a chance to earn a million dollars even it means giving up their virginity and that it where I could see the logic. But if you want the million dollars to get a new car or a bigger house, then no it doesn’t make much sense. For those who think it’s “sick” why don’t you look at all the things you have and think about others who don’t even have half of what you have. People who live in America have a lot handed to them and don’t know much about living on the streets: having no shelter to sleep in, hardly any food, digging through dumpsters to find food, clothes, or anything for your family. Don’t judge people for something that’s THEIR CHOICE when you don’t know their situation and have probably never been in something similar. Let them get paid for it at least. And plus, most girls lose their virginity to some drunk college boy who doesn’t even know that he’s doing and won’t even remember it the next morning. Wouldn’t you rather get paid a million dollars for it?

  38. dave May 5, 2011 at 4:27 PM

I will wait and be her second. Should only be $50 then.

  39. J. Money May 6, 2011 at 11:22 AM

    (!!!!!!)

  40. ShaLonte Jordan May 25, 2011 at 9:31 PM

I think this is the biggest form of prostitution I have ever heard of. To sell something as precious as your virginity is the sickest thing there is. You couldn’t pay me enough to sell my virginity that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

  41. girl June 24, 2011 at 1:37 PM

Charlene and “someone with an opinion” raised a lot of great points.

I believe judging people for living a different life to you with different morals/beliefs is sick!

It depends on what YOU think about virginity… if it’s just a title, a breaking of your hymen (which was bound to be broken one day), or a burden then why not? If you are more spiritual/religious or romantic “saving it for a really great guy who will sweep me off me feet and cover the bed in rose petals and light lots of candles and it will feel so great and we will live happily ever after” then I can see why you want to save it too. But either way it’s really a very personal decision.

whether they want their decision to be kept private or to be public knowledge is another matter on it’s own. I don’t think someone that decided to do this would want it to be known… Not because they are ashamed but because society is generally close minded and judgmental.

    Would I do it? Yes!
How much? Depends on my financial needs/wants and reasons I was doing it in the first place. I reckon send it to auction and get the most you can for it ;)

P.s. Just a quick judgement… Some of The men buying these virginitys could be nice, caring, good hearted people who just have always had a fantasy, or it may just be for his ego, maybe he’s bored. Personally I think that a man trying to voice his opinion that it’s wrong for woman to sell her virginity is so wrong! It’s just one less thing that a man has to control a woman. And woman voicing their disgust… I say they are either jealous cause they didn’t think of this first and probably lost it to some loser in the back of some car or they grew up in a patriarchal family/town where good little girls saved themselves for their husband on their wedding night. Why is he so special that that you “save yourself” for some guy you probably don’t even know yet or may never come along! And why is it that our virginity belongs to the one we are saving it for? Isn’t a bit tacky that because a man marries you as a gift he gets your virginity? “thanks for marrying me… Here’s your prize”. Im not judging women that wait for marriage… I’m judging women that judge other women for not waiting! Either way a womans virginity is hers not a mans… Whether she sells it for millions or gives it up for free… Its not a posession because he doesn’t get to keep it. You both f*ck/make love and it’s over. The end

  42. A Virgin September 26, 2011 at 7:39 PM

Coming from a young virgin girl, why yes, I’d sell it for over a million in a heartbeat.

  43. No October 21, 2011 at 12:47 AM

For all you people saying how awful it is to sell it, I see where you’re coming from.
You’re regretting that you didn’t do it, and now you’re trying to discourage everyone else from doing it because you want us to be just as broke and miserable as you.

Or some of us don’t think it’s a good idea ;) But hey – that’s what makes this life so great, we can all make our own choices!

I’d do it for the price of 4 thousand. I really and truly need the money. My family has financially struggled since I was younger. So much of our things have been threatened to be taken away and I can’t have that happen. I’ve been trying to get a job for over 9 months and no one has called me back. Not even for an interview. Why am I not good enough?? I’m currently looking for anyway to make money. Even if that means I have to give up my virginity. I don’t care about anyone’s judgement. Walk in my shoes and you’ll do it too.

so where do i sell mine? :D

  49. Chrissy January 20, 2013 at 1:30 PM

I would have done it. To be honest I just have mine away. Why give something away for free if you can get paid for it. My first time wasn’t anything special. I don’t look down on them at all.

For U haters who think it’s prostitution, I say U r all jealous, and go screw yourselves. Many people in the world today loose their virginity to someone they are not with, and for many they have bad express the first time, and in today society, most girls and guys loose their virginty in high school, some in middle school. I say to all the girls who are selling, good luck, and don’t care about the haters they wish they were u, and btw I am a virgin and I am in the process of selling mine. To all the haters U WISH U WERE A VIRGIN.

Planning of doing it,,am 20 and will definately do it for some millions with no regret, all those people saying that you should preserve it for your husband, where the heck did you get an idea that everygirl wanna get married?

  52. tj October 14, 2018 at 3:39 PM

Well, all I know is this, if you date a girl and get some, you pay for it. If you marry a girl, and get some you still pay for it. And if you go see a pro on the street, you pay for it… So to sum it up Any way you get it you pay for it….. And as for the girls out there selling it no big deal, its been going on from the days of “EVE”.
