This book grew out of a series of letters to my daughter concerning various things—mostly about money and investing—she was not yet quite ready to hear.
Since money is the single most powerful tool we have for navigating this complex world we’ve created, understanding it is critical.
“But Dad,” she once said, “I know money is important. I just don’t want to spend my life thinking about it.” This was eye-opening. I love this stuff. But most people have better things to do with their precious time. Unfortunately, benign neglect of things financial leaves you open to the charlatans of the financial world. The people who make investing endlessly complex, because if it can be made complex it becomes more profitable for them, more expensive for us, and we are forced into their waiting arms.

Either of these books would be an interesting read, I especially like hearing about people’s paths with their finances, knowing each person’s journey.

I got lucky with this program at our library called Zip Books, where you can request the library buy a book and they ship it to your house, FREE! And you get to keep it way longer than the regular 3-week hold. Gotta love our public libraries.
Really enjoy reading the stories of others. I felt there was a lot of repetition on the live beneath your means and buy index funds like the last book and chapters throughout. The personal stories are always interesting though.

I’d take either – slight preference for Pathfinders.
The Simple Path to Wealth or Pathfinders would be great! Although approaching the other end of the life cycle, I’ve avoided ownership of most things big or small and have invested mostly in life experiences – but as I approach that end stage, I realize I need to invest not only in the now but also the future…SOON! I’m practically debt free, but my nest egg needs a bit more to be sustainable.
