Free Wendy’s Frosties? OK!

free wendy's frosties 2012 tagThis will be a quick post just to tell you I came across the BEST DEAL EVER this weekend:  Free Jr. Frosties from Wendy’s every time I buy something in 2012! How crazy is that? (And what a way to start the new year?).

It’s true through. And it only cost me $1.00 to get it!

When I pulled through Wendy’s drive through on Friday, the manager there (I assume he was the manager cuz he was super courteous, and super old), asked me if I wanted a free Frosty, and of course I told him yes! (“YES! I Loooooove your frosties!!” I actually said back.)

And so he made it happen! And then once I got it in my car – and was officially hooked – he asked me if I’d like to have one *every single time* I visited this year.  “WHAT?  Are you joking??  Am I being punked?” I cautiously muttered screeched with joy. “Nope.  If you donate $1.00 to our blah blah blah (I honestly blacked out at this point cuz I was still so much in shock), you’ll get one every time you show us this key tag.”  And he held up that very same one you see there in that picture up above.

“Here’s your dollar!  Happy to help!!”  And that was that.  I officially became a Free Frosty member for all of 2012, and I am still in disbelief that something so beautiful can exist in this world.  So much so that I went back again yesterday to get another one, only I forgot to bring the tag and ended up frosty-less.  Oops.

I don’t know if this is a national thing, or a J. Money thing (maybe he was mesmerized by my sweet money skills?), but either way I am one happy mother budgeter this year.  And we’re only day #2!  If I were you, I’d swing by that heavenly place yourself and see what you can finagle out of them… at the very least, maybe you can give them the idea to do it at their place too?

Oh yea just what my fat royal arse needs! This does not bode well for my New Year’s Resolution to lose weight but there’s no way in heck I’d pass it up!

Forget losing wait, this is a sweet deal!

I just came up with a new New Years resolution,

Step #1: get in on this deal

Step#2: Make sure to consume 250 Junior Frosties before the year is done.
(I am not counting weekends and making sure to give myself 2 weeks off just-in-case, although I dont think I will need the 2 weeks of vacation)

I’m not sure if it is all Arby’s or just the one near where I work. But at Arby’s, if you have one of those rubber bracelets like for LiveStrong or one of the copycats, you get a free child-size drink or $1 off your order. Since those bracelets cost a dollar in the first place, it pays for itself the first time. (That said, I brown bag it to lunch and have only eaten at Arby’s three times in the 4 1//2 months I’ve been working there).

I’m assuming this is a clever ploy to get you (and every other frosty-lover) to come to Wendy’s more often. If you’re thinking of getting fast food, why not go to the place with a free “frozen dairy dessert”? I have a feeling it would trick me, too. Maybe even if I’m out somewhere, a little bit hungry, but I could just go home, if there was a Wendy’s nearby, I’d probably pick up a small fries and the free frosty. Don’t some people dip their fries in frosties?
Anyway, that’s a pretty exciting deal. Maybe you should buy each meal item separately…so you can get a free frosty with each!!! :P

@Jessica, The Debt Princess – Haha, I know, right? Damn good for the mouth and wallet, but not so good for the rest of the body ;)
@KC @ PsychoMoney – OMG you should try it!! Are they doing that deal in your area? Go find out today and report back :) That would be an interesting experiment! (but you might have to run like 5 miles a week extra or something or you’ll be in trouble)
@Edward Antrobus – Love it! Seems pretty similar to Wendy’s deal – though I’d probably prefer the $1.00 off a meal instead most times… good way to keep your fans loyal!
@Stephanie – Haha… yeah, DEF a clever ploy on their behalf (that happens to help charity too, which is cool). But since I only go to places when I’m really into them, I hopefully will be fine and not tempted to go every single day :) We’ll see though!

Jr Frosties are the main reason I love going to Wendys! If my kids didn’t have a milk allergy we would probably be there way too often! I’m going to have to get this so on those days when I can indulge and they aren’t around I can blissfully dip my fries in my free frosty. This makes me happy… and really hungry!

I think I see what you are trying to do here. This year you are going to introduce us to things like this to fatten us up all year long. At the start of next year, when all your readers have that extra marbling on them, you are going to introduce a get in shape blog. Of course we will all be hooked because of the extra weight.

    You are a genius!

I thought it was a national thing when I first read your post, I will have to check and see if I have this in my area.

  9. The Frugallery January 2, 2012 at 12:44 PM

This is a good deal, but I think it will go against my resolution to get in shape!

  10. Michelle January 2, 2012 at 2:23 PM

I need to buy this! What a great deal

  11. J. Money January 2, 2012 at 7:20 PM

@Leila (Don’t Speak Whinese) – Haha.. why doesn’t that surprise me you love to dip things into your frosties? :) I’ll have to give it a shot next time I’m there!
@Jeff @ Sustainable Life Blog – They can! If you go through the drive through next time :)
@KC @ PsychoMoney – Hahaha… you’re on to me! (But that would require me to start working out again, which I am really really REALLY bad about righ now… booooooo)
@The Frugallery – Yeah, I kinda wasn’t thinking about that at first – I was just so mesmerized! :)
@Michelle – Go for it! And try and then beat KC’s record he’s gonna try setting up there ;)

  12. SmartAssetTeam January 2, 2012 at 8:18 PM

That is a pretty amazing deal. It really seems like it’s too good to be true. I am waiting for the catch, like “Oh, sorry. That was a free frosty only on days when the date is a prime number…” Enjoy your endless frosties, and don’t get a brain freeze!

  13. Mercedes January 3, 2012 at 7:35 AM

As far as I know this is a national deal, and I the $1 you paid benefits some children’s charity. I got mine back in the beginning on December and have already had 3 free frosties. Goodness knows how many more I’ll have before 2012 is over… 362 more days to go!

  14. J. Money January 3, 2012 at 11:56 AM

@SmartAssetTeam – Haha, right? I was pretty happy with it all. Still am :)
@Mercedes – Go for the gold, my friend!
@Brendan – Hey nice, thanks for that. I tried searching once but gave up after a few tries – appreciate it :)

  15. Antwoinne January 3, 2012 at 3:31 PM

This deal is most definitely the best thing I stumbled on, I luckily was a member of the same program last year, and when I saw they were doing it for 2012 you bet I jumped on it back in November. It’s not the biggest Frosty in the world, but it’s enough to satisfy my cravings, AND its free. Bi-winning! (Or did that phrase not make the cut for 2012’s Catch Phrase list?) lol

  16. J. Money January 4, 2012 at 12:57 PM

Haha, sure – I’ll give it you ;) And you’re right – it’s not the biggest frosty in the world, but it most DEF satisfies. And honestly, it’s probably better that it’s not much larger cuz then we’d be tempted to eat the whole thing and that’ll add up quick in the unhealthy dept!

Thanks for stopping by, my new friend.

  17. Heather January 4, 2012 at 2:49 PM

Would love this, but I am severely lactose intolerant, so none for me. :( Enjoy extras on my behalf, J!

  18. The Happy Homeowner January 4, 2012 at 5:43 PM

Dude, I’m beyond jealous. I love, love, LOOOOOVE frosties!!!! Must. find. Wendy’s. in my area….

  19. J. Money January 5, 2012 at 12:20 PM

@Heather – Haha, yes – please stay away then! We’ll find you a deal like this in a different area ;)
@The Happy Homeowner – Yes! Go for it!

  20. Destiny January 12, 2012 at 3:05 PM

I had my keychain for 2011! I used it ALOT!!! I bought one for myself (of course), my son and boyfriend, so we could all enjoy a nice frosty when we went….. Most of the time they didnt even ask to see my keychains though lol now I need to get my 2012 one! woot woot!

  21. J. Money January 12, 2012 at 6:56 PM

Hah! Awesome :) I just got one for the wifey too – though I haven’t been back in the past week since getting it… guess that’s kinda good AND bad, eh?

  22. Oscar C. February 1, 2012 at 3:52 AM

Did this last year and I have to say that it is awesome.

Once a week after work, I’d buy a dollar menu burger and use this to get a dessert afterwards.
Best promotion that any fast food have given in my opinion.

  23. J. Money February 1, 2012 at 11:02 AM

Haha, awesome! I actually haven’t gone since posting this up! Which is pretty weird, cuz I usually go frequently… maybe today will be the lucky day ;)
