Favorite articles from around the web this month ✨

Gooooood morning, beautifuls!

What’s new in your world? How’d your February wrap up? Have you started updating your net worth already since it’s the 1st and therefore THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO TODAY?

Besides getting paid? ;)

I’ll be sharing mine shortly as we always do, and it’ll actually mark the 133rd month in a row of doing so, which is quite literally 28% of my life now, haha… There could be worse habits to have, though!

At any rate, here are all the articles I bookmarked this month that either made me happy, smarter, intrigued, or pushed me into deep thought for a few minutes.

Let me know if I missed any good ones!

wish farm budgeting

Welcome To The Wish Farm! by YNAB — “After budgeting for obligations and fully considering and saving for True Expenses, it’s all about the Wish List. Budgeting becomes a wish farm and the harvest is rich!”

Why I Write Letters to CEOs (and What I’ve Learned by Doing So) by John W. DeFeo — “I realized something scary a couple of years ago: There is no way I could ever act on all the ideas I’ve scribbled in notebooks, even if I live to be 100. That’s why I decided to freely give away ideas for new products, marketing strategies and businesses.”

Will My Money Survive Early Retirement? via Engaging-Data.com— “This interactive post-retirement calculation and visualization looks at the question of whether your retirement savings can last long enough to support your retirement spending and combines it with average US life expectancy values to get a fuller picture of the likelihood of running out of money before you die.”

how to save the world ebook

On Becoming an Individual (or HOW TO SAVE THE WORLD) by David Cain –– “[A free] 46-page graphic digital book that explains: The reason people normally live up to only a fraction of their capabilities, Why most people end up serving the desires of more focused people, How to plan an exceptional life that defies these norms”

The Greatest Investor You’ve Never Heard of via Forbes — “Dr. Herbie, as he is known to friends, is a self-made billionaire worth $2.3 billion by Forbes’ reckoning—not including the $100 million he has donated to Florida’s public universities. His fortune comes not from some flash of entrepreneurial brilliance or dogged devotion to career, but from a lifetime of prudent do-it-yourself buy-and-hold investing. ”

Church Raises $100K Through Month-Long Fast So They Can Pay Off Student Debt for 34 Grads via GoodNewsNetwork.org — “For the last few years, the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria has asked their congregation to participate in a fast for the duration of January by giving up certain luxuries, such as social media, junk food, or alcohol… The financial fasting ended up raising over $100,000 – and the church used the money to pay off the outstanding debt of graduating college students at Howard University in Washington D.C.”

For example, if I want to learn about the 1970s, all my media consumption will consist of books, videos, and interviews published in the 1970s. By doing so, I’ll embody the mindset of people in a bygone era and gain new perspectives on the here and now.”

Hope you find something good here!

If you’re a blogger and wrote something epic last month, pass it on over so I can check it out! I find we always have at least *one* good gem each month, and more often than not you can’t predict the ones people will love, haha…

One of my post popular posts in the history of this site is one I randomly wrote on why your palms get itchy and it miraculously fetches over 1,500 views EVERY DAY! That hardly has anything to do with personal finance at all, or even truth for that matter! :)

It’s definitely a world weird web out there, but we sure do love it, haha…

Happy itching!

Was an excellent idea! Can’t say I’ve ever thought about doing that before (not that I’ve ever had any epic ideas for companies I’m invested in, haha..)

Warren Buffett. He’s a billionaire, I’m not. But I would love to take him to Dairy Queen, buy him a cone, watch the people go by, talk about life (not money), give him a hug and wish him well. Heart of gold that man.

      Haha, agreed.

Do you know what John from FrugalRules.com once ran into him at Dairy Queen?? And he was having a chat with Mark Cuban so he got to meet BOTH of them at the same time???
