Hey Guys! Got a KILLER giveaway for you today :) Especially if you like sports and/or charities (and/or possibly going to the World Series!! And/or making ME your date for it! haha…)
State Farm has teamed up with MLB to give people a chance to attend the 2010 World Series, while at the same time making a difference for their favorite charity by “going to bat” for them. All you have to do is visit www.statefarm.com/gotobat, play the online Home Run Derby game for the charity you’d like to “go to bat” for and once a week, for ten weeks, State Farm will select a winner and their charity. The winner’s charity will receive a weekly donation ($100 for every home run hit that week in MLB) and the winner themselves will receive a trip for two to the 2010 World Series! How awesome is that?
But whether you like baseball or not, BudgetsAreSexy is also giving away something cool – Two lucky bastards reading this will win their very own $50 gift card toward Sports Authority! And unfortunately I can’t enter myself ;) I need new soccer (and football) cleats and I really don’t feel like shelling out the money for it, haha… So the power is all yours my friends.
For a chance to win your $50, complete 1 of the following:
- Tell us what your favorite charity is! If you don’t have one, copy one or make one up and tell us how awesome it would be :)
- Or tweet, “State Farm Go To Bat. Support the charity of your choice and you could win Trip for 2 to World Series! http://bit.ly/bqjPty (Sweet!)” and then let me know you tweeted it down below (if you don’t, I might not catch it!)
That’s it! Do it by this Saturday, July 24th @ midnight, and I’ll pick the 2 winners shortly there after via Random.org. GOOD LUCK guys! Hope you sporty ones like this.
Don’t forget to hit that home run! www.statefarm.com/gotobat
*Giveaway now over* The 2 lucky $50 gift cards are…Mike (Ducks Unlimited), and Mark Roberts! Congrats guys :) Stay tuned for another giveaway soon everyone!

My favorite charity is the National MS Society.
I tweeted this wonderful contest
Great giveaways with ways to support good causes.
My favorite charity is the E.J.A.F – Elton John aids foundation
My charity was Susan Komen for the Cure as my mother was recently treated for breast cancer.
My favorite charity is the perpetual education fund. http://pef.lds.org
Mine is my church (LDS) – they do a ton of humanitarian projects around the world, some that I have been involved with and others that I have not (they had planes full of supplies in Haiti after the earthquake, and were among the first to arrive. I was able to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew among others).
My favorite charity is the Wounded Heroes Foundation out of Chicago. It was co-founded by my sister’s godfather and former Marine Corps pilot.
I love nonprofits! I do work for one afterall… But, if I have to pick one: Room to Read.
Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.
Check them out at: http://www.roomtoread.org/
Great giveaway. Great charity–St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Because I can’t watch those commercials without tearing up, my favorite charity goes to the ASPCA!
My favorite charity is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Our daughter was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 7 so we have a family tie-in.
Mine is Meals from the Heartland. They package millions of meals for placecs like Africa & Haiti where it is desperatedly needed. Only $.25 feeds a family of 4. Check them out at http://www.mealsfromtheheartland.org/
My favorite charity is the Love Ministry, in Atlanta. It is a group I have worked with several times. Twice a week we set up downtown and hand out food, bags, clothing, blankets, and shelter passes to people down on their luck. People of all walks are down on their luck nowadays so I think this is a good service to all.
How about we go to the Superbowl instead J?
Ooh very cool giveaway! Touchy subject.. I know who I’d like to see in the World Series but if they actually make it is a different story lol!
I’m not familiar with many charities, but there is one I am very familiar with so I’ll call it my favorite :) It’s Team in Training which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
I’m a huge fan of Heifer International. You can buy goats, chickens, cows, geese etc. for families living in developing and third-world countries. It provides them sustainable sources of nutrition rather than a one-off donation.
Our favorite charity is Holt International, an adoption agency that finds families for kids from all over the world. http://www.holtinternational.org
So many good organizations out there! But recently I’ve been liking Heifer International.

I’ve always admired Dress for Success, especially with today’s economy and many women needing to re-interview for jobs or going into the job market for the first time or after a long hiatus to help bring in more money for the family. Being able to get some proper interview attire and some help with interview skills can be that first step they need to help them be successful in their search.
Heifer International is my favorite charity. They have some really amazing sustainability projects around the world.
My favorite charity is called Jill’s House. It is like a local Ronald McDonald house for people undergoing therapy for cancer.
SCTN! -> STOP CHILD TRAFFICKING NOW!! A really great organization.
Favorite charity is Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah. They are the organization that took in and rehabilitated the Michael Vick dogs and they do great, heartfelt work. Plus, you can go stay onsite at their ranch and volunteer there!
My favorite charity is the Big Brothers Big Sister Program. I’ve been a Big for over a year now, and it is a very rewarding experience. There as so many “littles” waiting to get a “big” and they are always in need of new resources.
Mine’s pretty obscure: The GBS/CIDP Foundation International. It’s became Guillain Barre Syndrome nearly killed my daughter and left her with some permanent impairment. Dammit.

For example, they gave me a grant to pay for a nursing assistant to care for my severely disabled child while I was in the hospital delivering my third son and recovering from a c-section.
My fave is Flight 33 – My Aunt and her family actually founded this charity for the poverty stricken Native American children in the Phoenix, AZ area.
