3 Money Books Up for Grabs!

Good morning fellow budgeters and non-budgeters!

Been staring at my bookshelf lately and realized I have a few extra copies of some books that’s doing no good just sitting there collecting dust…

So I’d like to give them to you this week if that’s okay? :)

Each one comes from a personal blogging friend of mine (they are so smart!), and each one is quite different. Let me know which one most resonates with you in the comments below – or via email – and you’ll be entered to win it!

Good luck!

“Retire Often”
by Jillian Johnsrud

Via Amazon: Why do we have to work for 40 years and only retire once? Why can’t we take occasional career breaks to focus on the other areas of life that matter: family, friends, adventure, rest, hobbies, our health, and achieving long-held dreams? And what if there was a way of doing so that not only avoided financial or career downsides – but brought profound upsides?

Author Jillian Johnsrud has walked the walk – taking numerous mini retirements that have unlocked work-life balance and a more purposeful life, while also helping rather than hindering her career thanks to simple steps and practical principles that anyone can follow.

She has coached hundreds of people to achieve the same, and in Retire Often she shares everything you need to make the most of every season of life by retiring not once – but often.

Accompanied by a thoughtful foreword from author JL Collins, The Simple Path to Wealth, this book is packed with personal anecdotes, applicable advice, and handy tips, making it a must-buy manual for anyone seeking more freedom and balance in their lives.

“Millionaire Habits”
by Steve Adcock

millionaire habits - steve adcock

Via Amazon (shortened by me): In this book, popular personal finance educator Steve Adcock delivers a fun, insightful, and hands-on discussion of how to build financial security, retire early, and give back to the community. You’ll learn to focus on yourself and your family first, creating personal wealth for the purpose of giving back to others.

Adcock explains that “saving money” isn’t a goal in and of itself, but rather the end product of the personal wealth equation: Wealth = Income + Investments – Lifestyle. You’ll discover how to pay yourself first with concrete guidance and practical advice drawn from people who built wealth on modest incomes.

You’ll also find:

  • Strategies for maintaining your physical and financial fitness so you can maximize the value of your assets
  • Ways to turn your existing wealth into even more valuable investments that generate continued, passive income
  • Methods to help you retire early and enjoy your financial independence at a young age

Perfect for young professionals, working families, self-employed people, and anyone else seeking to increase their net worth and get more out of life, Millionaire Habits is the intuitive and engaging personal finance roadmap we’ve all been waiting for.

“The Wealth Ladder”
by Nick Maggiulli

the wealth ladder - nick maggiulli

Via Amazon (shortened by me): Do you feel stuck financially? Are you working more, trying to spend less, yet still not seeing results? If so, the issue isn’t your effort – it’s your approach.

This is where The Wealth Ladder comes in. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme or a one-size-fits-all solution to your money problems. It’s a new philosophy for thinking about money altogether.

In a world where interest rates shift, careers take new turns, and desires evolve, our financial strategy must keep up. This is why The Wealth Ladder breaks wealth into six distinct levels, each demanding its own strategy. What works at Level 1 won’t cut it at Level 6 – and vice versa. You’ll learn exactly how to handle your spending, income, investments, and more, with tailored advice for every stage.

The result? Smarter choices, less stress, and a clear path upward. Because building wealth isn’t just about hard work – it’s about applying the right strategy at the right time to focus on what matters most.

All three resonate. 1. Why do we have to work for 40 years and only retire once? Why can’t we take occasional career breaks to focus on the other areas of life that matter: family, friends, adventure, rest, hobbies, our health, and achieving long-held dreams? 2. Saving money” isn’t a goal in and of itself, but rather the end product of the personal wealth equation: Wealth = Income + Investments – Lifestyle. You’ll discover how to pay yourself first with concrete guidance and practical advice drawn from people who built wealth on modest incomes 3.re you working more, trying to spend less, yet still not seeing results? If so, the issue isn’t your effort – it’s your approach. – All three have questions which remain with you unanswered. These books should help answer them.

I have followed Jillian and Steve for years but haven’t read either of these books. The third is a new one to me so even if I don’t win – I have some new books to check out at the library!

Since I am already retired, The Wealth Ladder is the most likely to have something for me. Plus I like Nick M’s take on many issues. Perhaps some of the stages will be applicable for my kids, which would be an additional plus.
    Fingers crossed for a win.

The Wealth Ladder is very interesting to me. The summary explains exactly where I am financially. I feel like I’m spinning wheels and going nowhere. I have approximately 20 working years left, and I want to be able to retire and enjoy it.

As a 50 year currently on a 6 month sabbatical (requested due to equal parts burnout and wanting to spend more time with my kids while they still want to hang out with me), who is also trying to figure out whether I should retire early within the next two years or try to convince my employer to let me take more such sabbaticals and keep working, I think Jillian’s book would be especially insightful for me. Thanks for doing these giveaways J Money, they’re much appreciated!

I would love to read “Millionaire Habits” by Steve Adcock. After amassing a chubby IRA, I would enjoy some tips and learning from others. It seems the rich have ways to pass down generational wealth, I would like to do the same.

    “The Wealth Ladder”
by Nick Maggiulli is of great interest for the sheer hope of motivation. I’m 56 and easing into retirement over the next few years but feel like I’m at a standstill with the financial side of the equation. I’m always looking for new ideas and perspectives to rekindle the fire.

    Hi J,
I’d like to check out “Retire Often” as I’m currently in that season. I opted for early retirement from the federal government during their…ahem… “restructuring” in 2025, so I’m a pensioner 10 years earlier than I planned to be. I’m ok with that because it’s allowed me to be available for my school-age kids, to homeschool my stepdaughter and be a full-time caregiver for my aging father-in-law. I plan to return to work at some point and I would love to hear how others return to work after stepping away for a season, and what factors go into those decisions.

I’m glad you’re using the time for such beautiful things!!! As a resident near DC and surrounded by gov’t employees (and now non-employees) I feel you hard over there… It’s a hot mess, and no longer being talked about really anymore 😑

Retire Often! I’ve been a longtime follower of Jillian’s and have always loved her perspective on creating more freedom and intentionality in your life. I love the idea of not waiting until traditional retirement to make time for all the things you actually want to do, and I’d be really curious to hear more about how people make mini-retirements work in real life!

The Wealth Ladder for me! I love Nick Maggiulli’s newsletter and loved Just Keep Buying, so this one has already been on my list. I really like how practical and data-driven his approach is, and I’m super curious about the idea that the “right” money advice changes depending on where you are financially!

Millionaire Habits sounds like a fun one! I love the idea that good habits can have their own kind of compound interest, with small choices adding up to something much bigger over time. I’m always a sucker for the habits and systems behind building wealth, so I’d definitely love to read this one!

Any book with an foreward by JL Collins is worth a read. I have heard Jillian’s thoughts on mini-retirements and would like to explore the expanded version of her recommendations. Plus, this seems like a great book to pass on to my children.

I would love to read Retire Often! I am chasing the “golden handcuffs” of a pension but I am so burnt out and don’t know if I can make it through the last 10 years! I love the idea of taking mini retirements and would like to learn more.

The Book that resonates with me is “Millionaire Habits”. I think I have done well, retiring at 55 years of age, but I have always felt that there are other passive or active ways that I may not be aware of that could add to my investment portfolio. I also realize that folks out there go about building wealth in different ways, other than real estate and the stock market. I am sure this book will introduce me to multitude of wealth building opportunities and habits that have helped others achieve millionaire status.

I’d go with Millionaire Habits. As a business owner, it’s easy to focus so much on making money that you forget about what you actually do with it. The income, investing and lifestyle part caught my attention. Really nice giveaway, J. Money. I’ll definitely check this one out!
