Morning y’all! In my constant pursuit of pairing down, I offer you up today a handful of great personal finance books for your choosing. This has been the hardest part of my purging so far, but it just has to be done. No point in keeping around these killer books as merely eye candy right? They need to get out in the world and enjoyed!
As my bff Benjamin Franklin says,
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
And combined, these books sure pack a wallop. Along with next Friday’s stash we’ll be dumping as well… I love ’em all, but I love you guys even more (awwwwww).
Here are today’s 4 books up for grabs:
(Links and description via Amazon…)
#2) The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J. Stanley –“The Millionaire Mind targets a population of millionaires who have accumulated substantial wealth and live in ways that openly demonstrate their affluence. Exploring the ideas, beliefs, and behaviors that enabled these millionaires to build and maintain their fortunes, Dr. Stanley provides a fascinating look at who America’s financial elite are and how they got there.”
#4) The Man Who Quit Money by Mark Sundeen — “In 2000, Daniel Suelo left his life savings-all thirty dollars of it-in a phone booth. He has lived without money-and with a newfound sense of freedom and security-ever since. The Man Who Quit Money is an account of how one man learned to live, sanely and happily, without earning, receiving, or spending a single cent. Suelo doesn’t pay taxes, or accept food stamps or welfare. He lives in caves in the Utah canyonlands, forages wild foods and gourmet discards. He no longer even carries an I.D. Yet he manages to amply fulfill not only the basic human needs-for shelter, food, and warmth-but, to an enviable degree, the universal desires for companionship, purpose, and spiritual engagement.”

I would love the millionaire mind! I love Stanley’s website, and I didn’t even know he had written a book (probably because I don’t go out of my way for things that aren’t free!)
Cool giveaway! If I send you my books will you give those away too?
You didn’t know he wrote books? Do you know about The Millionaire Next Door?? Cuz that’s one of the most famous $$ books in the world! Haha… You def. need to go check that one out at your library ;)
RE: your books – you should give ’em away on your site!
The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life!
I’ve always been fascinated by this guy! Great with money, but seems to be a bit of a hard ass. Definitely would love to read more about the man behind the money. Since I’d never win a sit down lunch auction with him ($2.3mil whaaaat!), I could at least read a book. ;)
I hope you get this book, since it provides very good insight on to the mind of the world’s richest investor.
I already have the book ( and my copy is torn out from reading it), but I think it is an amazing book.
Giving away books feels almost sacrilegious, but I will gladly take you up on your offer to benefit from your book purge.
1) I would love #4, The Man Who Quit Money
2) It sounds fascinating. Living without even an ID would be both freeing and terrifying.
Hey J$ Much love once again from Scotland, I would LOVE the following please! (You can send it the cheapest way possible since I am so far away!)
1)I would really love to read “The man who Quit Money”
2)I am Scottish, quitting money is the dream for us!! Och Aye the noo!
Cameron
Always looking for another good book to read :-)
1) The Millionaire Mind
2) I have read millionaire next door and would be interested to see a slightly different angle on the perspective.
I love a great read!
I’d like #4 – the Man Who Quit Money. I think it would be a very interesting read. Not that I could see myself ever going that far, I would like to become a bit more self sustainable and rely on money a bit less.
I’d like The Man Who Quit Money. While I can’t picture myself going to that extreme, at least not by choice, there are definitely beneficial lessons to be learned from this story that exemplify the concept that money doesn’t bring happiness.
I love your blog.
I would like the Buffett “Snowball”
The man amazes me. I have done a lot of the tricks that you have talked about. My biggest thing is to keep the monthly bills to a minimum and still be up to date on life and technology. I have an Ooma home phone (less than 4 dollars a month) and Republic Wireless cell phones for me, my wife, and my mother-in-law.
Wren Buffett does the same …only in much bigger ways. I can’t wait to read his story.
Thanks,
Jim
Truth!
1. I want The Man Who Quit Money
2. I want it because I’m constantly looking for motivation to appreciate the simpler things in life that money can’t buy.
I would love to read “Debt Free For Life.”
Why? Well, I’m working both a full-time and a part-time job, trying to get out of debt, and I can see the end in sight – but a little inspiration along the way would sure help!
Book purge is a tough one. I’m a big fan of the “Millionaire Next Door” and have never read the “Millionaire Mind” So I pick it.
David Bach’s Debt Free for Life
I just can’t seem to get off the debt rollercoaster. I have almost no savings and I still have a pile of credit card debt. It’s a vicious cycle. I don’t own a home and I’m only a few years from being 40. I feel like I’m doomed. I need a change of mindset.
It’s good you’re reading blogs!! They def. help :)
And in fact, I just put together a list of what I think the best DEBT blogs are out on my other site – maybe some of these will help?
http://rockstarfinance.com/best-debt-blogs
The Man Who Quit Money as a reminder that even when I don’t think I have enough, there are people living with less. Thank you!
Morning J Money – I would like the book – Debt Free for Life. Aside from my full time job as an accountant, I teach part time as an adjunct professor. I strongly urge my students to get their own financial house in order so that they become more effective business people. Most struggle with debt – student loans and credit cards in particular. I would love to read this book and spread the wealth of knowledge with my MBA students to help them help themselves. We need and deserve all the responsible, intelligent business leaders we can get!
Cheers and Thank You!
That’s an excellent use for the book!
The Man Who Quit Money because I’ve read 2 of them, have Snowball on reserve and this one is not available at my library.
Sounds like Mick Dodge from a financial angle.
Debt Free For Life – Fo Sho!
This is where I am at currently…whiddling down that mountain of mistakes that seemed so necessary.
Have an awesome weekend friend!
This is such a smart way to purge books! When I got married and moved into our house, I left my books at my parents’ house and have slowly gotten rid of almost all of them. It felt a bit like losing a limb at first, but now I realize even my most beloved books were really just taking up space and collecting dust. Suelo’s story is so fascinating! I love the occasional update that pops up in the media.
Yeah, once you get in the rhythm – and especially when you know they’re going to good homes to actually be *READ* it gets easier to unload them :) Even just putting this blog post together made me feel happier!
I would love The Man Who Quit Money! I’ve read a few of the others and this caught my eye because he goes against the “norm” and does what he really wants to do in life. It’s inspiring and something I’ve been feeling lately. Trying to figure out what exactly that means for me though. Would love to read this.
Thank you for this awesome book giveaway!
I would like to win, “The Snowball: Warren Buffet and the Business of Life.”
Ahhh to learn of his struggles and how he overcame and sustained them would be a very inspirational read that I could then put into practice for my life.
I’d love The Man Who Quit Money, because I love to read about people who go to extreme measures to do awesome things. It’s very inspiring.
The Man Who Quit Money because it sounds like a really interesting adventure and I share the subject’s love of the Utah desert.
I would like to read The Snowball. Warren Buffet is fascinating and it would be interesting to have that inside look into his thoughts and reasons behind his actions.
I appreciate reading your blog! Your transparency with your money is pretty awesome and always a good read.
Aww, thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Whew, been a while since I commented, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped reading this blog:)
Now for what we all know everyone is really here for muhahahahah….ahem
I would like the book debt free for life (that comes with all the money I need to pay of my mortgage right???)
I want to read it because hey, I had never even heard of it until now and I need some new wisdom, straight up homie!
Nice to see you back :)
Debt free for Life! It quickly caught my eye as I scrolled the email post. See, I’ve been debt free twice and got back in debt even more than before. I’m obviously not doing something right but I’m ready to be debt free once and for all…for life. I have a special needs little boy to care for and I need all of my financial resources instead of forking it over to credit card companies every month.
Thank you
Debt Free for Life, please! Our household has had to adjust to a drop in income multiple times over the last few years. We are finally living within our means again… not easy with six kids and a dog. We would LOVE this book. Thank you for your blog. We love it!
I would want The Millionaire Mind… the financial elite fascinate me
I would like “Debt Free For Life”. The reason is debt is the worst part of my finances right now and I think this will help me get it under control.
J Money!
Love the blog, thanks for all the financial wisdom and inspiration.
I would love the book on Buffett mostly because my older brother is a Buffett disciple and he’s been trying to get me to read Buffett’s shareholder letters for ages! While that’s somewhat appealing, I’d much rather read about the man himself.
Cheers
I want to go visit him one day at those actual shareholder meetups!!
The Man Who Quit Money looks really good and I would like to read this! I’m a little obsessed with non-conventional living in this day and age and love to read about people who approach life differently.
I would love to have Debt Free for Life. My wife and I are working our way out of debt and have read all the Dave Ramsey books and I’ve been picking up other books as we go along this journey to keep us on the path and inspired.
I don’t want any more stuff, but I’ll recommend The Snowball to everyone. Great business biography of a sometimes enigmatic man. Snowball is a great title because he really does snowball fairly modest beginnings into a massive megabillion dollar enterprise.
“The Snowball…”, please!
I already have The Millionaire Mind and enjoyed every word. I would like to read the other three and The Snowball is the most expensive on Amazon so why not try to win that one!
The man who quit money! The only one I haven’t read lol
I would love the Millionaire Mind. This book has been recommended to me by several people I know including owners of large companies.
Thank you
Aren’t you such a swell guy??
I definitely think I’d enjoy The Man Who Quit Money. This is the only one of the four I haven’t heard of, and I’ve really been into the whole money mindset lately, and “letting go.”
Enjoy your weekend!
I would like “The Man Who Quit Money” because I think it is a uniquely different way to accomplish what most of us are aiming for, financial independence. Even when many who have achieved it through building enough wealth talk about “treat any work as if it paid nothing and treat any spending as if it costs nothing” (From the Mad Fientists most recent interview) you still have to in the back of your head think about money. I’d love to find out more about someone who is taking “badassity” (to use one of MMM’s terms) even farther than most.
Just hung out with the Mad Fientist the other day – even cooler in person!
#1 – The Snowball – I’m incredibly fascinated every time I read something that Buffett says about business or read anything about him. I love reading about successful people because you are able to learn so much about the struggles/ideas/actions that got them to where they are now.
#4 The Man Who Quit Money, Please! That sounds like a really interesting story and way to go about life. I don’t know if I will ever be able to be as hardcore as him but I would to read about it and see what I can do to maybe adapt a little bit. Thanks J. Money!
1. The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life
2. I will be debt free around November 2016 (working on some side hustles to shorten that) so I would like to work on aligning my mindset till then with one of the world’s investing geniuses. Once I free up the debt snowball money I need to dive head first into getting to early retirement.
Hello,
I would love to have the Snowball
I am a long time admirer of Warren Buffet. Besides, my own personal policy is to give away my books as soon as I read it. By giving it to me you will giving it to at least two people.
Thank you
Great policy to have – love it!
#3) Debt Free For Life: The Finish Rich Plan for Financial Freedom by David Bach- I would like to get off this debt rollercoaster that myself and hubby keep going round and round on…I am so tired of the stress.
The Snowball would be my first pick!
I’ve been listening to financial podcasts for about a year now and I think well over half of them have mentioned Warren B. as an influence in their thought process. If you follow the advice of other great people one could only hope to increase their chances of success.
I’d love to read “The Man Who Quit Money.” I’ve found that one bad side effect of pinching your pennies so much is that the thought of losing your money can induce night sweats. I think this book would teach me how to chill out and realize that money isn’t everything and that being without it doesn’t necessarily spell “death.” And it sounds like a great apocalypse prep guide, which is always a plus.
Nice! I’d love to read The Man Who Quit Money. I’ve seen a few reviews about Daniel Suelo’s story and it just sounds really interesting. I am, perhaps, a bit envious of his departure from society :)
I pick “snowball” by warren buffet, becsuse this man amazes me. I did research oh warren, i find out he spends most if his time reading, and he’s the reason why i read a lot and read the “intelligent investor” by benjamin graham
I would love ‘Debt Free for Life’ book. I am working 2 jobs just to cover our basics – house payment, gas/electric, food. I want to be able to cover our expenses, save for retirement AND find a way to own my own business which will carry us into our retirement. Thanks for all the great advice! Love your Blog.
All of the titles sound interesting, but my family NEEDS “Debt Free for Life.” We have one child in college, another one starting next year, and we have not managed our debt well at all. We need help!
Check out these great debt bloggers when you can whether you win the book or not!
http://rockstarfinance.com/best-debt-blogs
Thank you for posting this link — I have already bookmarked it
Great!
I would love to have “Debt Free for Life”. I could use a little inspiration on getting out of debt.
I would love David Bach’s book. I liked his Smart Women Finish Rich and right now I’m working on (slowly) paying down my crazy amount of student loans and would love some motivation that it will end one day!!
1) The Man Who Quit Money
2) It fascinating to me that someone would willingly choose to give up money all together in a society that is based all around money. I would love to find out how he survives and thrives.
I would like to read “The Man Who Quit Money” – it just so fascinating and almost impossible!
David Bach’s Debt Free For Life.
I am 24 years old and just recently moved out and started a life on my own. I am very committed to starting out my independence and staying debt free. I became a debt-free connoisseur after one of my clients introduced me to Dave Ramsey’s book. I was so interested in the topic that I finished the book in one day. Since then, (about 2 years ago) I made the commitment that I would do everything in my power to read about finances and spread the word to my friends and colleagues. I make the same commitment with this book. I will take as much from it and spread any knowledge I get from it.
My name is Edgar and I am a new follower of the blog! I read it on a daily basis!
Thanks Edgar! The world thanks you too for spreading the good word on debt-killing! :)
The Man Who Quit Money – this is sure to be an amazing story and will provide a fresh look at personal choices and finances.
Debt-Free for Life! I want to learn how to become debt-free and STAY THAT WAY!
I would LOVE The Millionaire Mind because I am trying to get out of debt (except for the house) by my 45th birthday (less than 5 years away) and being single, I need all the help I can get. And my mind (wanting what others have) is what has gotten me into trouble and I would love to take control of my mind and change it!!!
.The Man Who Quit Money Would like but Some
might need it more then me. I’m a millionaire be investing in mutual fund for 40 years. Never made more then $70,000. Paid cash for everything. still have a allowance of $100.00 a week. That is for gas and if I want something knew. I’ve been debt free for 15years. I often sit back and ask how did I do this then I remember my mom who at 16 worked in the ship yards during ww2 never graduated from HS but gave me a book called your last dollar. I still live off of $40,000 a year but don’t work but part time as a coach love high school kids.
wowwwww – incredible!! totally made my day reading this!
The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life I would like to know how this man thinks and operates so that i can take away form that and apply to my life. Not to mention he is the best investor of all time. (Wouldn’t mind learning a little less than he forgot) and I’m Awesoome!
‘The Man Who Quit Money.’
Since I’ve been on this journey of mine to quit living the way I was, where I spent all “extra” money and had debt, because that’s “what you do” in this country, I’ve become very fascinated by anyone who does things differently, anyone who chooses to live in a way so completely off the beaten track that you know it had to take an extreme amount of bravery and sense of self. It’s completely inspiring to me and keeps me motivated to keep changing my life for the better.
I would LOVE the Snowball book about Warren Buffet!
The reasons why I want it are numerous and varied, I will list them below (in a rambling style):
– He is a dreamboat
– I have nearly every other book about my main man Warren but this one has escaped me
– I’m obsessed with studying his mindset
– I’m collecting documented references to his love of twinkies and am hoping there is one this this book
– To be honest, I may never meet him in my life but reading books about him is the best
– Beyond being financially free, I would like to be successful in life. Warren is someone who has not only become financially independent but has also maintained his happiness and life satisfaction throughout. Not to mention his marriages have lasted, which nowadays is quite rare.
– While I could purchase this book independently, it would mean a lot to me to have a book about my hero the Oracle gifted to me by another of my heroes J. Money
– I need some more witty one-liners from Warren and am hoping this book can deliver them
Thank you for the consideration!
I love this blog and I hope you can continue to grow it and have your story help many others.
Haha, you’re goo much over there :) I didn’t know about the twinkies but sounds fascinating!
The Millionaire Mind – because what better way to invest in knowledge than to improve your mindset.
1) The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder
As i feel one of the smartest people with money in the world he really knows and understands how to live a great life and still not splurge. Living in his original home and not letting the money go to his head really shows the kind of person he is.
I would like the Debt Free For Life: The Finish Rich Plan for Financial Freedom book. I think it would help keep me on track for my new goal of financial independence at the age of 50. I have already started taking action towards these goals by reading your website, mmm, gcc, and others. The more tools I have to help get me and my family towards my desired goal would help immensely.
Funny — I just started reading “The Man Who Quit Money” yesterday (I got it from my library) and it is a great read!
What up J.Money!?
I’d like the “Debt Free For Life” please! Since I’m on this journey, I will use this book to help not only myself, but those around me who seek to take control of their money to reach the financial freedom.
I actually don’t want any more books right now, but I just wanted to say that this is a great idea! I am definitely a minimalist person, so I try not to keep too many things around that I’m not using, but I’ve always had trouble with books. Great idea J$!
You’re turn to give away some now! :)
You are too kind good sir.
1) I would like The Man Who Quit Money
2) After reading the descriptions I think that The Man Who Quit Money alligns well with some of the money principles that we are trying to learn and teach better. Additionally, I have read Millionaire Mind already and don’t care much for Bach.
I would prefer to add The Millionaire Mind to our collection because I loved The Millionaire Next Door.
Debt Free For Life: The Finish Rich Plan for Financial Freedom would be my pick. I need to get my butt back in gear on saving/not spending money and getting the houses paid off as soon as I can. All of these books sound interesting so I will have to put them on my list of books to check out.
I would really enjoy reading The Man Who Quit Money.
Thank you so much for doing this, what a great idea!
I would love “Debt Free for Life”!!
I work a full time job and a part time job, and still have to rely on credit cards. I need to get out of it!!
I’m interested in Debt Free For Life. It’s currently a goal I’m trying to achieve. :)
I would love the Snowball! Reason being is because I am trying to take more control over my investment portfolio.
The Man Who Quit Money Paperback for me. The story sounds very interesting and I’d love to find out more about his story.
The Man Who Quite Money, sounds amazing. I would love to read the story of extreme minimalism/simplicity to gain perspective on my own journey.
Amber
I would love Debt-Free for Life! I’ve been trying to pay off law school loans, and hopefully this book will inspire me to get even closer to debt-free!
1) I would like: The Snowball: Warren Buffet and the Business of Life
2) I believe that book may give good insights into the mind of a great investor. I am always interested in his thought process and it may inspire me to undertake and accomplish a great task as well!
HI!!
I would love to win “Debt free for life.”
Here’s why, in the commentary you said he gives, “us the knowledge, the tools, and the mindset we need to get out of debt and achieve financial freedom—” I also have another quote written down that I believe I got from Dave Ramsey that sates “personal finance is 80% behavior and 20% knowledge” So I am looking for any kind of guidance that will help me change my “mindset” and “behaviors” in addition to gaining more knowledge on how to act, think, and believe in order to grow my financial muscles!
P.S. I have officially started my own “Challenge Everything” Savings (via Digit-since I found out I can transfer money to digit any time I choose, I decided to just keep all savings in one place and create a spread sheet that itemizes where the money came from. Boom! Less accounts to deal with) and am watching that savings grow. Already up to $88!!! Woot!
YES YES YES!!! LOVE THAT!! And you can tip yourself anytime you do something smart or accomplish a goal or something too :) (Killer work out today? I’m gonna save an extra $5.00 – “text!”)
Please keep me updated as time goes on. I want to hear how it goes and how much you’ve been banking :) Maybe we’ll feature you on here later!
The Snowball!
I would love to read the insight and background of the man who makes the money he does, but while seemingly so down to earth.
This is an easy choice for me! I would choose #4) The Man Who Quit Money, and if I don’t win this I’ll be picking it up sooner rather than later.
Why? As much as I am not one to go to extremes financially or in any other aspect of my life, I find stories in which people become so passionate about something they go to great lengths, the most inspiring and motivating. I’ve always been envious of those who choose to go against the grain and do something unique, and it doesn’t bother me at all that it’s based around money. So cool!
Agreed! Anyone who follows their dreams like that – as crazy as they sound – get mad respect in my eyes too. Even if it’s something I wouldn’t dare dream of or even want for myself. It’s the whole putting yourself out there that I admire so much!
The Man who Quit Money sounds very interesting, I would love to read that!
I would definitely want #2 The Millionaire Mind. I have heard great things about Thomas Stanley but am ashamed to admit I haven’t gotten around to reading his book yet!
The Snowball. Would be interesting to hear first hand from Warren Buffett how he has amassed the wealth he has and his motivation.
kristin
The snowball! (Actually any of the four, but as you said, just pick one!). This past year has been about learning how to invest and different investment theories, and seeing it from buffetts perspective would be an interesting read.
I would pick “The Man Who Quit Money”. It seems like it would be a good biography (or autobiography) read. I am also curious as to how he does it.
That’s so cool you are giving those away! I’m brand new to both debt repayment and investing, so I think any of those books would be extremely helpful to me. I have so much to learn! Most of my knowledge thus far has come from great blogs (like this one :)) and other internet sources. I am going to check and see if my library carries any of those when I go next week. Thanks J. Money!
Do it! I’m sure most of these book can be rented out for free!
1. I want the gold chair in the picture.
2. It looks super comfy and would make me feel like a king.
Haha… it is super comfy and makes you feel like a king, however it’s actually a puke green color which will make you love it even more or want to throw it into the garbage (my wife says the latter, but what does she know?)
1) #2) The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J.
2) I’m always interested in the psychology and neuroscience behind what drives each of us. Personally, I think it’s the most fascinating part of personal finance. The “why” behind the actions each individual chooses each day. I love expanding my knowledge on how people think and act and what makes up their beliefs and love when concepts challenge the norm. As I’m early on in my “wealth-building” journey, I think this book would help solidify my foundation and help expand my knowledge of what it means to “think like a millionaire.”
The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder , I like this book because of the way Buffet creates wealth and would like to learn them
The Millionaire Mind!
I love everything Thomas Stanley’s written and I genuinely mourned his death because it seemed as if he had so much left to say and it was such an amazing topic to focus on. I have a well worn copy of The Millionaire Next Door that would love to have a mate on the bookshelf.
Oh nooooo! I didn’t know he died! I used to tweet with him back in the day but hadn’t in a long time… Damn… such an incredible guy (and brain!).
I love books. I have 2 out of the 4.
1. The Snowball
2. How can you go wrong reading about Warren Buffett? It would be like wanting to be a professional basketball player and passing over books about Michael Jordan.
I’d truly love to win The Millionaire Mind!
I have recently decided to challenge myself to save and track expenses to ultimately achieve financial independence. In doing so, I am trying to read (lead me to your site!) and get my hands on any information to help me fully understand how others have achieved it. Thank you so much!
I’d like to read The Man who Quit Money. The description intrigued me and I am always a fan of those who go against conventional thinking.
If you don’t choose me I might have to hunt it down from the library! ;)
The Millionaire Mind
I love getting into others’ mindset and see finances in a different perspective.
The millionaire mind, I recently read the millionaire next door and enjoyed it, I would like to read another one of his books if I get a chance.
The Snowball. I definitely want to learn more about Warren Buffet. I have a no-fuss index fund investment strategy, but learning more about the man with the money could only be helpful! How does he do it?
Not by indexing (as I do too) but he’s famous for saying that’s how he thinks people should invest their money! :)
The Millionaire Mind.
I loved the Millionaire Next Door (and recently gave my personal copy to my step-brother who just graduated college) but I would love to read this one and see what else Thomas Stanley has to say about the topic.
I Would like Debt Free For Life by David Bach. I love your inspiration and I too have a goal to be debt free. I am taking baby steps right now but really need to move at a faster pace as I get closer to retirement age and would like to put my hands on anything I can to help me get there.
I would like the debt free forever. In doing Dave Ramsey I am trying to read all the books I can about money. Thanks
Ohh ohh pick me for Debt Free For Life!
I am currently working to pay down debt (and then will start workin’ on an early retirement–bam). I have found that hands down the most motivational thing that I can do as I save money/pay down debt is to read articles and books from people who have done it/have suggestions. That is why I am a VERY regular reader of Budgets are Sexy. I have a tendency to ‘fall off the wagon’ (if you will), but only when I haven’t check my blog feed/picked up a book recently. This would undoubtably help in that motivation.
Yayyyy thanks for reading!
Yup letting go of books is hard for me as well. I like to reread the good ones from time to time. I would have to pick the millionaire mind, cause I cant believe that dude who doesn’t live without money will last long without it. Its possible but arguable. LOL.
Great idea, and great books.
Sign me up for The Man Who Quit Money also.
Mainly because I’ve read the others, and I’m always interested in learning about extremes since that’s where the lessons are most easily recognizable.
I would like to win “Debt free for Life” because I already paid off my credit card debt, and now I’m working on my student loan debt and would love inspiration to make it happen quicker.
I would love to win The man who quit money! I am fascinated with people who can live this way and maybe it will inspire me to pair down my life a little more.
“The Snowball”
Warren Buffett is unique in that his annual letters are books in themselves. He helps shareholders with life and money, it would be great to see what makes him tick.
“The Millionaire Mind”
because, “True Love”
The Man Who Quit Money because I’m most interested in living as simply as possible.
Debt Free For Life
If I don’t get it I will club a baby seal.
I would love The Snowball. I love Buffett and would love to know more about his strategies and reasoning behind what he does! Also, I have a Personal Finance unit in my class, where we study Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club, so I can bring in the book and share it with my students!
Neat!
I’d love the Warren Buffett book. I can’t think of a better author to start an investment book collection.
The man who quit money
Debt free for life, I am in Jason Fieber’s boat about the automotive industry, I have tried to get out of the industry by joining the air national guard, and realized that I needed to embrace a job I absolutely despise so that I could tackle my debt and become financially free, budgets are sexy hooked me and made sense to me on my level, Warren Buffet is amazing but alot of time guys on his level are above my head, (not that J Money isn’t on that level ;)), Ok rambling on here, but to me financial freedom is the most important thing in the world, who can put a price on your time? So thankful for real financial bloggers sharing thier journey
Thanks so much man! And I have no doubt you’ll reach that if you keep on hustling and consuming $$$ tips. Jason is an incredibly inspiring guy and great person to look up to/follow too! And he finally escaped! :)
The Millionaire Mind – I read his first book and seeing some practical applications of that lifestyle would be great! Thanks for the contest.
I would like “The snowball: Warren Buffett and the business of life”. Awesome thing to do, way to try and give something back. Great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Love Buffett!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Buffet memoir would be awesome, I’d love to rip through that every night before bed and go to sleep with dreams of slowing building a financial empire in a small central new york town.
I would love a copy of The Snowball. My wife and I are two years from being free of personal loans and credit card debt and I am intrigued by the philosophies and mindset that can help me better prepare for a fully-funded retirement.
The Man Who Quit Money….I’ve already read the other ones and this story sounds inspiring! Thanks for the offer!
Hey J,
Good for you on decluttering.
Well color me surprised I can’t believe the amount of competition for #4 the man who quit money. I was like yes that one ( and no one else will want that on, I’ll win for sure ;) hahah)
Well I guess that really proves that I am with my people in this space.
Okay so I also want #4, I loved the into the wild movie and thought I am going to do this with my life some day. And I am . this book sound like just that! I find unconventional living so alluring.
Also if we win do we still get to enter next weeks…. I’m a little nervous a title in the 2nd round might be even more fitting to my tastes. . but don’t think I’m not interested in #4 I sooo am.
✌ Romeo Rome ;)
Haha Hey Romey Rome!
Yes – you can enter both giveaways, no problem at all :) And I was quite surprised to see the interest in #4 too. Esp with how bad ass the other books are!
It is a more casual/entertaining book though (and drastically different) so maybe that’s why?
Either way, I wish you luck in winning, my friend… So nice to meet you in person!!
Hey, what a great give away!
1. I would appreciate the Warren Buffet book.
2. It is on my bucket list to go to a shareholders meeting and I am going to make it happen in 2016. I am taking my 15 yr old so she gains wisdom and sees what it means to own stock. Then she is going to present her findings to her business management class.
Nice!!! I’m hoping to meet you there next year too!
1. The millionaire mind.
2. I’ve paid off nearly $50k in debt this year (truck and rest of my student loans from graduate school). All I’ve done with my money the past 4 years is pay off debt. Now it’s time for me to start living and generating investment return. Mental toughness is paramount in anything that anyone does. With the proper mindset you can accomplish anything.
Ps. Side note. I look forward to your emails weekly. You and your journey in life are what give people hope. Couple weeks ago you were asking how much people have lost since the market took a dip. I forgot to write In, I’m about $29,500 down since the market dived.
AKD
Way to go man!!! You’re killing that debt!! Imagine how much you’ll have towards investments now?? Or even more investments than you apparently already have, haha.. losing $30k means you’re sitting pretty over there – congrats :) Glad you’re enjoying the blog!
I am getting the book by David Bach when I go to bookstore tomorrow. Thanks for these four books! I have another books to read.
Snowball: Warren Buffett
The sheer size of that book has me placing a bet on it being the largest investment of knowledge hence paying the largest interest. If I’m wrong I don’t want to be right.
The most reviews and highest rating on Amazon doesn’t hurt my persuasion.
Would love The Snowball!
I’d love to have the Snowball by Warren Buffet simply because the author is a trailblazer. He has put everything about what true millionaires really are. He has taught me and my husband investment advises that has shaped the way we think about money, life, family and relationships. Hope i get to be the luckiest bastard to have these books :)
I am a bibliophile, but if I must pick one I will pick The Millionaire Mind. I am always interested in new methods in points of view and how it can shape the world around you.
I would love to read the man who quit money because that would be my dream. I don’t know if I could ever do it but living a simple life with less is my plan anyway, I just think I’ll need money to travel. If he shows me I don’t, goodbye job, hello living!
#3 Debt Free For Life
I need help to get a grip on my personal finances. Currently we are up to our eyeballs in dept, have a mortgage and little income. Looking for ideas on where to save on expenses, save for retirement and living debt free.
Make sure to check out these blogs when you get a chance – they’ll help!

Hi JMoney!
I would love to get a copy of The Man Who Quit Money. I was compelled to buy my first copy when I heard David Suelo on a podcast discussing the book and his life. He is truly fascinating! I lent my book to a friend and (surprise) never got it back. I love this book so much that I have one of Suelo’s quotes on my checking account notebook:”Money is an illusion”. Helps me to keep things in perspective when my finances don’t look too rosy. :)
Hey! Very cool!
And reminds me of a rule my friend Nate has – he only gives away books and never lends them out full accepting that he won’t get them back haha… so anytime he “lends one” he just makes a note to buy it again later and re-stock :)
The Man who quit money.
I like to read stories about personal experiences and thinking outside the box.
The Man Who Quit Money!! I am fascinated by people who are able to live off the grid and I am always taking conscious efforts to move away from the grid. Why I don’t think I’ll ever live entirely off the grid, my ultimate goal is to downsize to a tiny house and live on a much smaller scale.
Cool…can you say more about this? Do you have a spouse, kids, etc? Is this something you’ll do soon…or way in the future? I don’t want to give up my house completely, but in 20-25 years, I could see putting it up for rent for a few years while we live nomadically. It will be very hard to balance between living in a national park area for months at a time versus wanting to be active with our community, kids, friends, etc. Ideally, maybe we’d “rent” it to someone in our family for way below rental costs, just to cover the mortgage, which in 20 years, would be half of market value.
“The millionaire mind”
I would like to compare and contrast my mindset yo that of the millionaires. Not to mention I like to read about these subjects.
Debt Free for Life! Since we are in about 45k in debt, I’m always looking for plans that may work for us!
i would love to read warren buffett. I have always wanted to learn from my Mentors. Let’s not reinvent the wheel. Let’s emulate the best to be the best we can be!! Please let me continue the journey of personal growth by learning from Buffett!!
i’d like the millionaire mind because i do believe i have the potential to be a millionaire. i have no debt… i make the cash, i’m planning for future side hustles…i already bought that other book the millionaire next door. read it in one day. great read.
I would love book #3 – Debt free for life
I’ve had the chance of working in supporting families out of debt by coaching them. I find this very interesting and rewarding. that volunteer work have me a look into the methods of supporting that change and I’ll be happy to learn more about it.
Tali Lerner
I’d love to throw my hat in the fight for Debt Free For Life: The Finish Rich Plan for Financial Freedom. Personally, I would love to find the balance between financial freedom and worrying about money. It’s a hard balance, but one that I think is achievable. I’m still learning how to earn money, save money, but not give up the lifestyle that I want to live (one filled with travel).
I’d pick The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J. Stanley. Since, I started reading one finance book each months I believe that The Millionaire Mind will be the best read for the month of October.
The Millionaire Mind. It looks the most interesting for my life right kow.
I’d like to Debt Free For Life: The Finish Rich Plan for Financial Freedom by David Bach
because I manage my money – financial life (I hoping about that) at the moment my credit card is big challenge.
I’d love “The Man Who Quit Money.” I am fascinated by people who live life totally on their own terms. Its very rare, and I’d love to learn more about how he has done it, especially the mechanics of it.
Thanks,
Travis
Thanks for putting on this contest and offering it up. I’ll add to it. After you do the random drawing for the 4 books, draw one 1 more name and I will buy the book of their choice for them and have it shipped to them. Just send me the winning name via email (my contact info is at https://about.me/stevemiller29).
Thanks for giving back J. Money, you’re awesome!
You’re the man! I will most certainly do that, thanks Steve! So generous of you :)
I’d love to have “The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life”! I’m such a fan of Mr. Buffett and it would be fantastic to be able to strike up a convo with him the next time he visits the office (I’m lucky enough to work at one of the many companies he owns.) My dream is to have him sign my ukulele or even *GASP* play a tune with me!
That would be rad!!!
J Money – I would love your copy of The Man Who Quit Money, because I just left all my money in a phone box and now I don’t have any cash to purchase the book myself. x Thanks for the blog.
Haha….
I like David Bach and haven’t read this book, so it would be my first choice! Debt free for Life sounds pretty great.
I’d like to have a copy of The Millionaire Mind. I am always curious to see what makes people tick, especially when they have become powerful, famous, or wealthy. It makes you wonder what they are doing right.
I would love to win Debt Free For Life as we need all the knowledge and inspiration we can gather in our ongoing efforts to rid ourselves of consumer debt followed closely by our mortgage – my husband and I are targeting financial freedom hopefully sooner rather than later! Thanks for the opportunity!
Debt free for life! I want it because it has been on my “to read” list for a while!
#2) The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J. Stanley
Changing my mindset around money has been a lifelong process. I currently have no savings, a son about to start college, and we’ve both have had some health issues this year. I have finally broken through some shame regarding my money. I had starting saving (& saved $1500 in one month) while reading a Dave Ramsey book, but then something happens in my beliefs & I sabotaged myself. I’m paying on medical bills, for both of us, this year, but I know the important step is to start saving again, even taking baby steps & trust that I’ll get the medical bills under control so we can breath again financially. I do think it is huge that my mindset has been changing and even while in the midst of current financial challenges, I’ve been able to find peace. And a conviction that I will get through this, it just takes baby steps, the right ones (& forgiving myself when I fall back). I plan on trying out the text savings app that you mentioned & would love for you to feature Deborah, from above in the comments, the woman who knows she needs to change her actions and beliefs & she recently saved $88 with that text savings app. I really desire to hear success /how-to stories from someone in a similar situation to mine.
I pointed my teen son to this blog. I thought it would be good to give him mentors. He is very interested in learning about investing right now (something I never used to think of as a possibility for myself, but I now belong to a women’s investing groip to start learning) — I know he’ll find great benefit from reading the blog posts here
Awesome!!! We’d love to have him here poking around – we like to make stuff fun :)
I’ll try and feature more debt/inspiring stories here too. Here are a few from the past, along with one I just found and featured on my other site – Rockstar Finance:
How I Paid off $46,500 of Student Loans in 2 years
Proof That Getting Out of Debt is VERY Possible
How Jacquelyn Slayed $48,000 of Debt
I would love to read Debt Free for Life. Thanks for the giveaway! I am new to your website, and it looks great.
I would love a copy of “The Snowball” for my personal collection! I’m a soon-to-be graduate of Tusculum College’s business department and an avid member of our Center for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship. This would be a wonderful read moving forward toward my professional career. This kind of information gives the new generation of business people the insight we need from a legendary businessperson! I started following this site recently, keep it up!
Great career path you’re on! I wish I paid more attention to business and entrepreneurship back in my college days. such a great thing to know/learn about.
I would like to read “The Man who Quit Money”… sounds fascinating.
I would like to read #1 The Snowball about Warren Buffett. We’re already debt-free and working on investing, so I definitely could use some of his wisdom in my life!
I would love Debt Free for Life. I’m graduating from college this winter after going for 7 years (yes I’m only getting my bachelors) and am counting down the days to when I have to start paying my student loans.
The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life
I do not read that much anymore, and i need motivation to read. This book is from the great investment mind Warren Buffett – and I need desperately to hear his knowledge and apply his principles to my investments. I would love to have this book. Thanks, David
1. Millionaire mind, read millionaire next door and loved it….and I have good debt and bad debt so this could be useful for me!!
The Millionaire Mind.
I’m a new reader of your blog and this is the first article I’m reading! What a better way to attract and retain a new reader than having him/her win a free book.
I’m also starting my own personal finance blog and will use this book as a resource.
Thanks and happy saving!
I’m also starting
Indeed :) Thanks for stopping by and saying hi!
I would like “The Snowball”. Winter is approaching and I would like to read something that gets me in the cold weather mood. ;)
The Man Who Quit Money by Mark Sundeen…’cause it is the only one that I can’t currently get from the library. Thanks for the great advice!
Although “The Man Who Quit Money” sounds very intrigueing, it doesn’t seem like a life I could realistically do, so I would choose “The Millionaire Mind”. I think it would be interesting to find out how people who are very successful with their money think about things. Definitely a perspective worth learning more about.
I would love “Debt Free for Life” by David Bach. I have been in debt since I was 18 years old and I believe I want to be out of debt at least by my early 50’s, like 52. It is time to unload the burden. Amen!!!!
MAKE IT HAPPEN! :)
Debt Free For Life for me! I’m trying to begin paying my debt more aggressively. and would love some tools to help me out.
Debt Free for Life. Tired of juggling debt around to pay off one debt with another :( On the plus side my wife’s student loans are gone by December and if we take 60% of her payments and put them on mine, mine are gone by end of 2016 :)
YES!!! DO IT!!
1. It’s a hard choice but my first pick would be-The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder .
2. I would love to learn more about this amazing man and his life.
Hi! I’d love to get Debt-Free for Life, as I’ll soon be graduating and I want to do all that I can to pay back my student loans ASAP. Maybe with a little luck and the help of that book, that could be the last debt I ever have to take on!
I would like to read The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder. I am curious to learn more about him and his business. I have been reading financial blogs for a while but haven’t started a book yet. I think it will be an interesting read to start with.
I would like to read The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life! I have always been fascinated with Buffetts investing acumen, business skills, and his incredible wealth building for himself and others. Its also so cool he lives in the same house!
I’d very much like, “The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life.” Pretty please!
The reason is, I never believed this guy has anything special… except money in the bank to begin with. Maybe the book will convince me otherwise? :)
