The G.O.O.D. $ Gals

Guest post by Ms. Tiffani

Let’s talk ladies (and gentlemen) about finances. To most this is considered a taboo topic to discuss however it needs to be discussed. Considering the condition of our economy so many of you reading this are in the dark – and have been – about your financial situation.  Being aware of your financial situation is not ‘greedy’ or ‘uppity’ it’s freedom, financial freedom!

Last year I read Smart Cookies: Guide to Making More Dough, a group of five women were sick of complaining and feeling stuck with their financial situations so they formed a group to help each other out.  My friends and I have been influenced by this book & recently started our own group – G.O.O.D. $ Gals (Girls Owning Our Dreams).

We meet once a month for 2 hours and choose a focus/topic to discuss. Each meeting starts with the Check-In process. The group consists of five women and we each take turns sharing our progress & setbacks since the last meeting. I find this especially helpful because I have four other people holding me accountable to my goals and helping me through the tough times. After checking in we proceed with the topic we had chosen to focus on. For instance in a couple of weeks we are going to be talking about Entrepreneurship. A majority of us in the group are either interested or currently becoming entrepreneurs. Everyone is to bring something to contribute to this meeting such as resources, articles, books, etc.

I strongly recommend you create your own G.O.O.D. $ Gals with a few of your supportive friends. Finances need to be talked about, especially among women. So often we put ourselves on sale or settle for less leaving you treading water just to get by.  No one deserves this.  As Esther Hicks would say,

“…your real work is to decide what you want and then to focus upon it. For it is through focusing upon what you want that you will attract it. That is the process of creating”. Cheers to that!

in my country many women have teamed up and empowered themselves. Some of them have gotten financial freedom and even gotten the millionaire status. Commendable. Why dont we men ever do things like this? Most of us are lone rangers when it comes to wealth creation. Why is that?

I want to be the first to say, CONGRATS to my G.O.O.D. $ Gal and friend Tiffani on this amazing post. I would recommend anyone to team up with a trusted friend or friends who are on the same path to financial freedom. My finances and life havr changed dramatically over a few months since joining G$G.

We are on our way and we want to see you there too.
    Freedom is Sexy!

    xoxo

I would love to do something like this. Unfortunately, most of my girl friends are not at this mindset yet in regards to money management, savings, and investing.

Thank you Schenelle & J. Money! It was a pleasure to write this and bring this issue to others.

KT – that is fantastic, what country are you in?

Young Mogul, do you live in a town or city where they might have financial support groups? Check on Meetup.com. If not you always have the support of the G.O.O.D. $ Gals!! Don’t hesitate to email or tweet me ;)

Tiffani, I appreciate your focus on finances, as I’ve said before and forming a group such as yours would be very beneficial. I’ll be checking out the link next.
