    Fav = Chappelle
Relate With = “living it up pix”

Lent someone $8,000 once cause they were in dire straights. They took a trip and bought all new flatscreens for their house, which I saw on Instagram.

    Never saw my $8000.

    *lender be*

Wowwww that’s jacked up, man… Better to be you in his case, the Good Samaritan, than the jack a$$ at least!

    THANK GOD FOR INDEX FUNDS!!!

    VTSAX all day errrrr’y day.

    Fave = tennis balls.

That was in my top 3 too, haha… people are so clever :)

  4. Mike @ Balanced Dividends May 11, 2018 at 6:53 AM

Good stuff – many lessons learned :)

While not applicable to me, Pirates was my favorite. – Mike

  5. Jody May 11, 2018 at 7:18 AM

Laughed out loud at the tennis balls.

I think my favorites were the school/job, job/school one and the kid with the emergency fund.

    I vote for the dog.

Also, add Dory, I cannot take the credit for that so tip the internet.

This reminds me a distant memory of something called “Funny Friday”.

    Thanks for the reminder :)

    1. J. Money May 11, 2018 at 7:33 AM

D’oh – actually had a Dory and forgot to add up! Done!

(And yes pleassse!!! Used to love those articles from you!)

  7. Leo T. Ly May 11, 2018 at 7:41 AM

What an awesome punt for the tennis ball meme. You aced that one

  8. Ms. Frugal Asian Finance May 11, 2018 at 7:52 AM

Lol the memes are hilarious. I can relate to #2: someone owes you money and is living it up.

I mean it’s their life and I agreed to lend them money. But I was so upset I even wrote a post about it. I’m now more careful about lending money to friends for sure.

  9. Dwight May 11, 2018 at 7:53 AM

The doggie meme with the advice about tennis balls sounds pretty reliable. I might buy some tonight for my dog. :) Woof!

      Lucky dog!

  10. Laurie@ThreeYear May 11, 2018 at 8:00 AM

That last one! :) But really, how “Narcos” is that “pounds of money” meme?! Hahaha thanks for the laughs.

Happy Friday ~ Love The Dog!

    1. Lisa O May 11, 2018 at 9:01 AM

The last one wasn’t to bad either :)

  12. Joe May 11, 2018 at 9:09 AM

    These are great!
    This one is my favorite.

    No money in bank account?
    Write himself a check.

My dad used to do this when I was in college. The school wanted to see that the parents have fund to pay the tuition. He didn’t so he wrote a check to himself to beef up the balance. Then get the statement before the check bounced. Whatever works…

    1. J. Money May 11, 2018 at 11:38 AM

Oh wowww haha…. these days all you probably have to do is show someone your credit card :)

  13. Chris @ Keep Thrifty May 11, 2018 at 9:17 AM

I love the Xzibit one because compound interest always blows my mind and I think it does for everyone the first time they *really* figure it out.

I talked with my kids about how the bank will pay you to keep money there the other day and talked through how every year the amount they pay you grows. Their jaws dropped :)

    1. J. Money May 11, 2018 at 11:38 AM

yes, but the REAL question is – did they start giving the banks their money??? :)

  14. Lee May 11, 2018 at 11:20 AM

I relate a lot with the Jack Sparrow one.

  15. Fred May 11, 2018 at 4:00 PM

    My fav:
Paying for school to get a job.

Just to get a job to pay for school!
How many recent grads are feelin’ this one? (probably have that same facial expression)
    #2 is a tossup.
The baby with a tax return adding to his emergency fund
    or
    Steve Carel’s
    No money in the bank?
    Writes himself a check!

Impressive collection. Where’d you find em all?

    1. J. Money May 14, 2018 at 10:44 AM

Been collecting them over the years but never had them all in one spot, so half my mission was to just post this up for me to reference easier going forward haha…

  16. Ellie May 11, 2018 at 6:44 PM

The Oprah meme is hitting home right now. Because I just got a car.

I want to tell my recent story here because I don’t feel comfortable telling anyone I know.

I’ve been driving a ’95 Mustang for the last 19 years. For the last 10 years I’ve been saving up money for a replacement vehicle. The Mustang was becoming unsafe to drive, so I finally pulled the trigger.

I bought a 2016 Camry with only about 8K miles for under $18K. I was able to pay with cash!!! I’m so stupid excited to have worked all those years to accomplish this.

Ya, I know all about how I could have invested the money and took a loan, but I did not want to. I wanted a solid car and no payments.

It’s all because of the financial journey I started around the time I found Budgets are Sexy! Thank you J Money and all the other bloggers who have helped me stay focused on my goals!

    1. J. Money May 14, 2018 at 10:54 AM

      HEYY!!!! Way to go, Ellie!!!

Such a huge move – hardly anyone ever does that! You should be super proud of yourself for sure :) Maybe you can sneak it into real life conversations by saying “I know this friend who just paid for their car in all cash – isn’t that so cool???” haha.. I guarantee it would get a great discussion going! :)

  17. Dave June 1, 2018 at 7:25 AM

Great post. My favorite was The face you make when you pay yourself first. I make that face evey other week when I get paid. I am just not as good looking as Leo, but who is? Another example of art imitating life.

    1. J. Money June 1, 2018 at 1:20 PM

      Haha…

Leo does make it look good, I agree :)

  18. Suzi June 1, 2018 at 9:54 AM

Oh, these really slay me(me) ;)
    Gotta read BAS, every post!

    1. J. Money June 1, 2018 at 1:21 PM

Ahhhh I see what you did there!

  19. Lee June 2, 2018 at 1:44 AM

Hands down favorite –“Have you ever seen anyone sad on a jet ski ?” LOL. Nope, sure haven’t. Those people are having a blast. Now, personally, I judgementally think that jet skis are a frivolous waste of money and I would never buy one. However, I would never turn down the opportunity to ride someone else’s. But whatever the equivalent of riding a jet ski is for each of us, I think it’s important to do something regularly that makes you off-the-scale happy. This is a new revelation for me because it took me a long time to find out what these activities were. Some people seem to be more fun-oriented while others, like me, view life as a serious of goals to be reached by sacrifice and hard work. By finding those activities that equal the “jet ski” experience, I find it much easier to make sacrifices in other areas because the spillover effect of the exhilaration makes any hardship more bearable. I don’t think that most people allow themselves to be jet ski level happy. I bet it would radically change their life.

    1. J. Money June 4, 2018 at 10:13 AM

HELL YEAHHHH man! Agree 100%. I cant think of a “jet ski” experience I do that costs a lot of money, but I sure do enjoy walks in old cemeteries by myself which most people would *not* enjoy haha… Not only is it free, but it reminds me to be thankful I’M ALIVE!!! And it’s so peaceful in them! :)

Thanks Mr. J, everyone needs several good laughs every day and you delivered!
