You Googled my What?!

Welcome to another riveting version of “You googled my what?, along with our weekly roundup plus other random stuff I feel is important to share with you today :) Warning: I’ve drank WAY too much coffee already this morning.

First up…random stuff I feel is important to share with you!

  • You guys are sexy.
  • Verizon wireless sent me a check for $3.26 due to an “incorrectly calculated fee.” I haven’t had their service in over 3 years?! (But of course I’m keeping it!)
  • USAA sent me our yearly c/c cash rebate. To the tune of $677.93 :) Free money for spending what I normally do anyways – the benefits of rockin’ plastic responsibly!
  • I lost my USAA credit card this week… right after updating all my accounts due to that Target debacle the other month too! Ughhhhh… (what was I saying about using plastic responsibly?)

Next up, some interviews I’ve done recently that might help you (I’m an attention marketing whore):

Next, You Googled my What?? (aka “weird stuff people search for to get to my blog” :) So so strange sometimes…)

  • “3D seksy guy”
  • “Job.sex.Hot.Call”
  • “Protandim kill tumor”
  • “Can get by on bologna and cereal?”
  • “I HAVE HID THE BUDGET FROM MY HUBBY”
  • “Guys saving money + girls + like + expectations”
  • “What cell phone carrier works on guantanamo bay?”
  • “How much does it cost groceries for asian family of 6?”
  • “Things for guests to do during day at homeless shelters”
  • “How does food trucks look in the in side with the fryer in it”
  • “Show the picture up Nike collectible tennis shoes and value”
  • “Bank pick up lines” (Here you go: “Can I give you a deposit?” ;))
  • “How much would a star tatoo cost me in south africa?” (I dunno, but it cost me $90 in NYC)
  • “Can you be arrested for ripping a dollar bill?” (Probably not, but try it and see what happens!)
  • “If I leverage 1 million in assets am I no longer worth a million dollars?” (Correct)

And here is the weirdest article I read all week:

And then here are some congrats that are due!

  • Congrats to Paula Pant for hitting her blog’s 3rd birthday! If you don’t read AffordAnything.com – you should! One of my all-time favorites, no joke.
  • Congrats to Brad Chaffee who was featured in an NBC article for his hardcore stance on “not needing/caring about his credit score.” You might remember Brad from EnemyofDebt.com.

And also some giveaway winners that I never really publicized yet (oops). But of course, if you haven’t heard anything from me you’re probably not a winner ;)

β€œHow does food trucks look in the in side with the fryer in it”

Haha – did they find their answer? If not, maybe you should write an article on it – you clearly have an audience for it!!

  2. Michelle March 7, 2014 at 7:35 AM

UGH that stinks you lost your card right after you updated everything. I just received my two new cards and have to update everything today. I hate doing that!

P.S. Your search phrases are hilarious!

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 8:03 AM

The smart thing for us to do is to make a list of all the places we have our card numbers entered :) I have one but it’s only 50-75% complete.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 8:05 AM

Time for you to share some of yours! :)

  3. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 8:04 AM

Hahahahhahaha… now THAT is funny :)

  4. kathleen March 7, 2014 at 8:20 AM

no but really… what cell phone carrier works at gitmo?

  5. Kali @ CommonSenseMillennial March 7, 2014 at 8:34 AM

Okay, I have to ask because I feel like we’ve been doing something wrong with USAA: we have never received any kind of rebate from them! We have our mortgage, homeowners insurance, and car insurance through them – I’m assuming the missing ingredient here is that we don’t have a bank account with them? My brother-in-law has USAA and told us about how members get rebate checks. We’ve been a member for two years now and it’s just hit me we’ve never received any kind of check like that. I want my money, J! ;)

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Really?? Maybe it showed up on your account and you just didn’t see it? I know you should DEF get one for car insurance. The one I’m talking about here was for my cash back credit card – which falls under banking, so that is diff. since you don’t rock that. But yeah – maybe just call them up and ask! You know they’re customer service is hot cakes :)

  6. Shannon @ Financially Blonde March 7, 2014 at 8:41 AM

The google searches section cracks me up all the time. Yours are far more interesting than mine, but some of my faves from my site are “iam wealthy i can relax”, “bathroom set target” “who is the blonde at the end of the credit karma commercial end” – this last one made me google it right back because now I wanted to know who the blonde at the end of the credit karma commercial was.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:01 PM

      Hahhaha… Who was it??? :)

  7. Justin @ Root of Good March 7, 2014 at 8:48 AM

β€œCan get by on bologna and cereal?”

Hahahaha… I have had some strange ones too. Do you ever get the googled homework questions? Like “If a man has $200 to start the week and spends half of the money on food and one fourth on rent, how much money does the man have left at the end of the week”? Cheaters…

Thanks for the link loving man!

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:03 PM

Hah! No, at least not that I know of… would have never even thought of that actually :) Times have changed since I was in school!

  8. Brian@ Debt Discipline March 7, 2014 at 8:57 AM

Bank pick up lines -lol. Is that a roll of quarters in your pocket……

    Have a good weekend J!

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:04 PM

Hahaha… sounds like you’ve had experience with this? :)

      1. Brian@ Debt Discipline March 10, 2014 at 8:27 AM

Ha. No I take my loose change to the bank via the drive through just to avoid situations like this.

  9. Brit March 7, 2014 at 9:19 AM

I read that article about um the living Barbie trying to live off light and air. Interesting…if it works for her I’m so not sure I can’t give up my Nutella for light and air… LOL
I enjoy reading BeyondDebtFreedom.com very much.
β€œBank pick up lines” (Here you go: β€œCan I give you a deposit?” <- What?!

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:04 PM

Glad you like BeyondDebtFreedom! Brad is so SO very good at what he does. His passion is incredible so I was glad to see him back in the game again :)

  10. Andrew@LivingRichCheaply March 7, 2014 at 9:36 AM

The search phrases are hilarious. Once I was searching for a real estate attorney in Flushing, Queens on google and my post entitled “Did I Flush $80,000 Down the Drain by Renting?” came up!
Thanks for the shout out J and enjoy the weekend!

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:05 PM

That’s pretty cool! I see lots of pf blogs show up in my searches too which I always like :) Would much rather learn/visit them than a rando that’s probably spammy.

  11. Chris @ Flipping A Dollar March 7, 2014 at 10:27 AM

β€œI HAVE HID THE BUDGET FROM MY HUBBY”

Definitely my favorite. YNAB helps keep my wife and I on the same page. Could not imagine hiding spending from each other!

  12. Slackerjo March 7, 2014 at 11:02 AM

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude, I thought for sure YOU would write a post (perhaps it’s in progress) about the Cadillac ad feature in the “Are We Overworked?” article.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:06 PM

I did think about it but I just liked his article too much to re-do :) I did feature it on RockstarFinance.com though!

  13. Jen @ Jen Spends March 7, 2014 at 11:28 AM

My sister has a check for $0.02 from Verizon proudly displayed on the refrigerator! It’s a good conversation piece.

I sure hope you can’t be arrested for ripping a dollar bill, because my 5-year-old totally did that while trying to shove one into his overstuffed bank. Of course I Googled what to do (because I’m not going to let a dollar go to waste!) and found that as long as enough of it is intact, banks will trade it for a new dollar. If it’s really mangled, you could send it into the government for replacement, but it’s probably not worth the trouble.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:08 PM

Right. Banks def. accept them and they also get old money that people don’t know about but which are worth a TON to collectors! So I always ask them if they’ve gotten anything weird or cool looking and almost always they show me something :) Not very valuable lately, but one of these days I’m hoping!

  14. Grayson @ Debt Roundup March 7, 2014 at 11:39 AM

I love looking at how people came to the blog. Sometimes you wonder, what are they doing? I am sure you get some good ones with “sexy” in the blog title.

  15. Melissa March 7, 2014 at 11:40 AM

DUDE. I got that Verizon check, too! Only mine was only for $0.02. I deposited it on principle alone, but had to seriously weigh whether or not I was using more in gas to get to the ATM. :)

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:08 PM

If your bank had a deposit app on your phone you could do it in your seat :)

  16. John @ Frugal Rules March 7, 2014 at 12:41 PM

Those search phrases are hysterical! I read that article about the Breatharian as well and just had to shake my head. Sorry about losing your card as well, especially after having to update all your stuff.

  17. Done by Forty March 7, 2014 at 1:46 PM

That story on the barbie model is pretty crazy. Air and light? Maybe that’s what allows her to talk with aliens.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:09 PM

(I almost spit out the water I was drinking when I read that last line, haha… good one :))

  18. Retire Before Dad March 7, 2014 at 3:31 PM

Thanks for the link + girls + like + expectations, J. Savings!

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:09 PM

      J. Savings! Hah! Way to go back in time :)

  19. Mario Adventuresinfrugal March 7, 2014 at 4:21 PM

Hahaha. Those Google searches are hilarious. I always wonder how (1) Google decides to put you in the results for these and (2) Why people still click on your site when they’re searching for these things

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 9:10 PM

Especially all the porn searches I get :) I’m pretty sure talking about budgeting/money has the opposite affect when you’re looking for sexy ladies ;)

  20. Jim March 7, 2014 at 4:42 PM

Thanks for the mention J, glad to have had you part of it!!

  21. stephanie March 7, 2014 at 9:59 PM

I got $18.99 from Bank of America this week. An honest to God check. Something about a part of a settlement for BofA behaving badly and charging over-draw fees when, in fact, the client was NOT overdrawn. I like an extra check any time as much as the next guy but DAMN! Does BofA think that covers the time and agony I spent trying to straighten out their banking errors??? Oh well, unexpected $$$ are great by me!
Funny randomness – I love the universe. Those are some pretty funny ones J Money.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 10:10 PM

Never been a fan of good ol’ BofA…. only things I ever hear are negative, and have never come across a diehard fan like most banks have? Glad they gave you some money though :)

  22. Mike March 7, 2014 at 10:02 PM

I bet you’ll end up finding your USAA Credit card AFTER you called to report it lost.

Paula Pant is an awesome writer, I wish I had half the writing skills she has.

    1. J. Money March 7, 2014 at 10:12 PM

I know! That’s why I haven’t reported it yet – I’m too afraid to until I’ve had some sufficient amount of time for it to come up first ;) (Though of course that’s super bad financially wise in case someone DOES have it!)

Agreed on Paula too. She’s one of my faves.

  23. Crystal March 9, 2014 at 6:43 PM

“Bank pickup lines” is pretty funny. My favorite term to get to my site is “why cruises are awesome”. ;-)

  24. Mr Ikonz @ Project Ikonz March 9, 2014 at 8:27 PM

There are some truly freaky people out there given those Google searches!
Glad you posted the link to your 6-figure blogging. I hadn’t seen it before and it certainly motivates me to keep going!

Retirement and freedom here I come!

    1. J. Money March 12, 2014 at 7:59 AM

Oh good! Glad you got something out of that one, thanks for letting me know :)

  25. Paul March 9, 2014 at 9:45 PM

What is this USAA rebate you were talking about I want one!!!!

    1. J. Money March 12, 2014 at 8:00 AM

Credit card cash back rewards :)
