Just call me the next Justin Timberlake, baby! Or, rather, just never call me again, haha… What you’re about to watch is really really bad – I’m not kidding. And I’m not talking about just the ghetto quality either. I wouldn’t be surprised if your computer screens cracked mid-way through watching ;)

But when I heard there was a contest to win $1,000 for just shooting a “money saving tip” video, I couldn’t resist the chance. After all, before you can save anything you need to EARN that money first, right? And if this doesn’t get me that $1,000, well, I guess I just embarrassed myself in front of the entire world for nothing – womp womp.

I can’t believe I’m actually posting this up right now…

You can watch the video here too if you’re seeing this in email or a reader – it’s 1 min long. Or you can just read my mad lyrical skills below… In which I literally swap out “d*ck” with “cash” in 99% of the areas, haha… You can compare it later to the original song when you’re bored ;)

To all the fellas out there with ladies to impress,
It’s easy to save just follow these steps:

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your CASH in that box
3. Don’t ever open the box

And that is hoooooow you save it!

Christmas! CASH in a box!
Raises! CASH in that box!

Every extra dollar goes straight to the box.

After you receive your paycheck – cash in the box.
Mid-day at a conference? Cash in the box!
Backstage at the Plutus Awards – cash in that box.

Put your cash, in the box…

All kidding aside though, it really is that easy to save. Though of course if you want to grow it you don’t actually want to put it in a box. Instead, you’d want to throw it in savings or cds or stocks or index funds or against your debt or towards your emergency fund, house down payment, etc, etc, etc. Whatever your main goals are, really.

At the end of the day though, just remember – the trick on how to save is to just take out the “how to!”

In other words, JUST DO IT.

      Hah! You should… In fact, a Canadian media outlet picked it up a cple months back and passed it around for a while if you can believe that :) Funny how a random thing you do (that takes like 5 mins) after some beers can be better than stuff you pour energy in and flops, haha…

      It felt even more ridiculous just singing & filming the whole thing to begin with! I was deathly afraid of my wife or someone walking in on the middle of it all and being like “Wtf??” haha… Trying not to take myself so seriously these days, and this is definitely helping with that :)

    Haha, just watched it. Any time I have to put myself on video I feel totally ridiculous, but it’s part of “the biz” for me… and my friends, family, etc have totally walked in on me, mid performance, totally giving it.

    All I can say is wow! I never would be able to post a video of me singing online. It was hard enough making my video ecourse…felt so awkward. For what it’s worth, both of our cats were in the room when I hit play. One ran away and the other was fine and just kept listening.

      Haha yeah – they won *real* awards for that video too!!

      There’s actually a bunch of stuff I wanted to try out w/ it, but was limited to 1 min vid play, and after 2 hours of trying to film it all by myself (you’d be amazed at how many things I had to click/remember/look at to get it in one take!) I just called it a day and locked it in… Anything more than 2 hours (or hell, 2 mins!) just seems like a waste of time, haha…

        Yah, filming oneself is always more epic and time-consuming than estimated at the outset. Oh but the things you could add in: cut your own hair? cash in the box! rode your bike? put that cash in the box!

    Okay, that’s hilarious! They asked me multiple times to submit a video and the one that I sent in was my second take and definitely did not have this much planning put into it…like I put in 5 minutes total. Now I feel like a slacker…

    Well that’s really something, isn’t it : ) We did a video too – and it just won an award last week! Though not for $1,000. It’s a response to last year’s campaign by Visa Canada called “smallenfreuden” – the joy of small. Their message was, “Buy every little thing on Visa, and you’ll be happy. Grrrrr . . . I don’t know your stand on credit cards, but you can probably guess mine. We created a 44 second spoof on “smallenfreuden”. It’s called “cuttenfreuden”.

          hell yeah we can. I can be civil about any topic that’s debatable (politics, religion, etc). Unfortunately others can’t and then you get the crazy drama and have to find a way to quietly slip out the back so you don’t get sucked into pointless “debates” ;)
