WHAT IS A BRAND AMBASSADOR?

When I tell people I’m a Brand Ambassador, most people have no idea what that is. One person even thought I traveled the world and represented countries at UN meetings. While that would be a pretty cool gig, what we do is much easier and way more fun than that.

Brand Ambassadors are the friendly people you see wearing branded t-shirts and handing out or demoing products at events and high foot traffic areas. Easy right? By definition,

A Brand Ambassador is someone who is hired to represent a brand in a positive light and by doing so they help to raise brand awareness and provide consumers with a memorable face-to-face experience with the brand.

This method of marketing a brand is called promotional marketing.

A common misconception is that Brand Ambassadors are employees of the brand they are promoting but that’s not the case. In actuality, they are simply contracted freelancers who are hired by staffing and event marketing agencies to represent their clients – the brands.

Brand Ambassadors are usually hired in medium to large groups to work at large events, music festivals, trade shows, sports games, nationwide tours, and pretty much anywhere where there are lots of people and excitement!

I’ve represented famous brands such as Nike, Samsung, General Mills, and Chevrolet at amazing events such as Comic Con, E3, the US Open of Surfing, and Coachella. One of my favorite parts about being a Brand Ambassador is that you get access into these hard-to-get-into venues for FREE and are able to explore and party during your breaks and after your shift!

WHAT DO BRAND AMBASSADORS DO?

I get this question pretty often and it’s always hard to answer because there are so many ways to promote a brand to people. Usually though, a Brand Ambassador’s main objective is to create a fun and memorable experience for consumers by:

  • Giving away free samples and swag (e.g. sampling at events, high foot traffic areas, within retailers)
  • Having people test new products (e.g. testing the new iPad or the new Chevrolet cars)
  • Setting up and breaking down events (e.g. setting up 10×10 tents, tables, feather banners, etc.)
  • Interacting with consumers face to face (e.g. greeting people at the door, being Emcee, or overseeing a section of an event, etc.)
  • Increasing brand awareness by wearing branded uniforms or costumes (branded shirts, branded hats, costumes, etc.)

There are lots of ways you can promote a brand as an ambassador, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many different job positions within the industry that you can be hired for that all have different responsibilities and even higher pay rates. You can do everything from manage promotional events, go on tours in branded trucks, and even pump people up as a costume character!

HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I MAKE AS A BRAND AMBASSADOR?

It still surprises me how much extra income we are able to make on the side while we pursue our other passions. If you hustle hard enough, you can even make a full-time living from it!

On average, I personally net anywhere from $300-$700 per week (depending on the season, the gig, and if I feel like working) and the best month I had, I made over $3,000. The bare minimum you can expect to make is $15/hr while a reasonable maximum could be $50/hr but on average a $20/hr rate can be expected when first starting out.

COUNT ME IN! HOW DO I GET STARTED?

It’s easy to start making extra income as a Brand Ambassador! All you need is:

  • A computer with internet
  • A friendly and outgoing personality
  • A well written resume that is catered for Brand Ambassador gigs (you can download my FREE digital guide on how to write the perfect resume by joining my newsletter)
  • A couple of nice photos of yourself

It should be noted that while the promotional marketing industry is easy to get into, it can be competitive. Staffing agencies usually get dozens of applicants for every gig they post. So in order to stand out from the crowd and increase your chances of getting hired, I’d recommend you also obtain the following:

If you have all of the above, knowing how to make money as a brand ambassador will be a piece of cake. You’ll be ahead of most of your competitors and you should be landing many of the gigs you apply for.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY AS A BRAND AMBASSADOR: WHERE DO I FIND GIGS?

Ambassador gigs are readily available, especially if you live in or near a major city. There are hundreds of staffing agencies out there and many of them are hiring for promotional gigs every single day.

Here are 3 of my favorite places to look for Brand Ambassador work:

#1) FACEBOOK — In order to know how to make money as a brand ambassador, start here. Facebook is the simplest and most abundant source for finding Brand Ambassador gigs in your area. There are Ambassador Facebook groups for every major city and this is where staffing and event marketing agencies post their open jobs. There are literally dozens of postings every day and what’s great is you’ll get a Facebook notification every time there’s a new posting.

To find these bountiful groups, type the following in the search bar:

“Brand Ambassadors of” + “Nearest Major City”

(e.g. Brand Ambassadors of Seattle).

Once you find your local group, request to join it or if you like traveling, join the Facebook groups of other cities you’d like to work in as well to hit the road!

#2) CRAIGSLIST — Craigslist is another gold mine for finding local Brand Ambassador gigs. Navigate to your local city, look under the “Gigs” section, and then click on “Events” to find promotional marketing gigs near you. One word of caution though: don’t provide any of your personal information without verifying who actually made the job posting. Most gigs only ask for a resume and some headshots but if you ever feel uncomfortable, move on to the next one.

#3) AGENCY PROFILES — Many agencies offer an option on their website to “join their team” of Brand Ambassadors. You can do so by creating profiles with the agencies that offer it, and those agencies will email you directly with any job opportunities they have. It usually consists of inputting your basic personal information, any experience you have, and some pictures of yourself. Easy peasy!

After registering with a handful of the best agencies, you will consistently get about 10-15 job openings emailed to you every single day. It’s so convenient, and you get to hear about exclusive opportunities you won’t find out about in Facebook or Craigslist, which is why I love this option so much.

I put together a comprehensive list of staffing agencies and their ratings on my website which you can use as a starting point for creating staff profiles. It’s not hard at all, and if you take the time to make profiles for good agencies, it will save you lots of time and make you lots of money in the long run.

WHAT’S THE HIRING PROCESS LIKE?

It’s actually really simple! Every gig will be different but for the most part, the hiring process for Brand Ambassador gigs is as follows:

  1. Search through job boards and check your email (after registering a profile with agencies) to find gigs that interest you and that you’re available for
  2. Email the relevant hiring managers your resume and pictures with a little blurb about why you’d be great for the gig
  3. If the agency is interested, they will call you for a quick phone interview
  4. If the agency thinks you’re a good fit, they will call back to offer the job
  5. Have fun promoting the brand at an awesome event!
  6. After the event, payment will either be mailed to you or deposited directly (depending on which agency you work for)
  7. Follow up with a thank you email and begin to build a relationship with every agency you work for

THIS SOUNDS AMAZING! ARE THERE ANY DOWNSIDES?

It IS amazing! I’ve looked through every single Side Hustle option on ‘Budgets Are Sexy’ and only a few of them can compare to how fun, flexible, and lucrative being a Brand Ambassador can be. With that being said, here are a few things to consider before becoming one:

  • The pay is great but because the brand must pay the agency before you get paid, your payment can take anywhere from 1-6 weeks to get to you. Agencies are getting better about paying more quickly but because of this middle-man effect, it’s important to read your contracts before signing and to keep track of which agencies owe you what and when.
  • You are an independent contractor, which means no taxes will be taken out so you should save a percentage of your earnings to pay later. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how you like to file your taxes and what you decide to write off.
  • You may not hear back from many of the gigs you apply for, especially if you’re just starting out. Don’t give up! It’s a numbers game in this industry but the more gigs you work, the easier it will be to land future gigs you apply for.
  • Most gigs are only 1-3 days long which means you always need to keep your eyes open for opportunities. For some people, this is great as it’s extremely flexible and one can apply for work whenever they have the time.
  • If being on your feet and talking with people for hours at a time doesn’t sound fun to you, then being a Brand Ambassador may not be your cup of tea…but try it anyway! It sure beats staring at a computer screen in a cubicle.

IN CONCLUSION

By now I’m sure you’re 1,738% convinced that being a Brand Ambassador is one of the greatest side hustle options out there. Working in the promotional industry is such a fun and flexible side hustle and the fact that you can get paid $15-$50/hr just to sample and demo products at cool events is just icing on the cake – it’s like the life hack of side hustles.

If you have a friendly and outgoing personality and are looking for a flexible, fun, and lucrative way to make extra income, learning how to make money as a Brand Ambassador may be the perfect side hustle and potential full-time job for you!

Oh, I didn’t know that Brand Ambassadors get paid? I really thought that it is voluntary for those. It is such a good sideline job for those who wants to earn more money.

    1. J. Money October 30, 2015 at 7:06 AM

Hah! That would mean they REALLY love what they do! :)

    2. Jim Wang October 30, 2015 at 7:57 AM

I’m pretty sure it would be illegal to have someone do the job of a brand ambassador on a volunteer basis.

      1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:17 AM

        Hi Jim!

Thanks for your insight. While it would be illegal to NOT pay a signed contractor if the contract states compensation and the work has been completed, there are volunteer Brand Ambassador gigs every once in awhile for special events, such as non-profit events or the Special Olympics.

hello, kenny. i want to be part of it as a brand ambassador but i live here in philippines is that possible for me to join with you?

    3. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 10:27 AM

      Hi Clarisse!

Yes, Brand Ambassadors DO get paid and paid well at that. Most gigs are on the weekends which makes it a great side hustle even if you have a full-time job or are busy during the week. Good luck!

      1. Michelle November 1, 2015 at 11:22 AM

I wrote a pretty extensive post on this. I absolutely love my Brand Ambassador gigs! But Clarrise, there is NO WAY anyone would stand for 10 hours and share product information for free LOL. Not even for swag.

        1. Kayla July 3, 2016 at 1:43 PM

          Michelle,

Yes, there are many of company’s that are out there that think it is okay for a Brand Ambassador to do all of the heavy lifting for free and think SWAG is a good enough payment for 10+ hours. I do not know why that is so, but it is. I am breaking up with a company because of this…… I did an event by myself supposedly from 12 to 6 with a 9:30am set-up.

Being a brand ambassador is a ton of fun! My best gig was bringing Red Bull to libraries during Finals weeks. It would be fun to get back into this again :)

    1. J. Money October 30, 2015 at 7:07 AM

To the library??? Haha… I’ve seen them given out at bars and clubs (mmm vodka red bulls) but to stacks of books? I don’t think i could concentrate with that stuff running through my veins :)

      1. Jim Wang October 30, 2015 at 7:59 AM

In bars and clubs you’re competing against the brands giving away alcohol. In libraries, you’re competing against nothing. :)

    2. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:31 AM

That sounds like a lot of fun! A library during finals week sounds like the perfect opportunity to get in front of the target demographic. I bet you made a lot of people happy and directly led to some students getting better grades ;)

Have a great time getting back into it!

  3. Chris Muller October 30, 2015 at 6:40 AM

Kenny – this is pretty cool. Out of curiosity, what’s the most you’ve personally made from a single gig? Also… what was your most embarrassing gig? Thanks again for sharing this – great resources too :)

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:27 AM

      Hey Chris!

Thanks for the compliment :] The most I’ve personally made from a gig was $65/hr and that was for Chevrolet. I was a Field Manager for 3 months and on the weekends I drove to youth baseball games and set up a tent and table with some swag and collected leads for the local dealership through an iPad. The local Chevrolet dealership would also be there and they would have attendees test drive the latest cars. For each test drive, Chevrolet donated $40 to the local Youth Baseball League!

That was probably one of my favorite Brand Ambassador gigs. Got great pay to collect leads for Chevrolet and help a Youth Baseball League. Win-Win!

      1. Sue June 5, 2017 at 4:52 PM

Wow! I worked in insurance collecting leads when I started out before the huge pressure to sell insurance came about, I was only paid $12 an hr habing a b.s. in business, yet you made $65 for a fun chevrolet promo. Its all about knowing the right ppl/companies and having connections/contacts.

  4. Mr. Largo @ Band of Savers October 30, 2015 at 7:14 AM

This sounds like an awesome side hustle. I wouldn’t have guessed that you would be paid for getting to do that. I always thought that the brand ambassadors were either volunteers or low wage employees of the company being represented. Thanks for giving me a great new hustle to look into.

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:32 AM

I’m glad you learned something new today!

Yes, most people think Brand Ambassadors are employees of the brand or volunteers but it’s actually a great side hustle opportunity for all of us friendly folk :] Good luck!

  5. Dee @ Color Me Frugal October 30, 2015 at 7:22 AM

What a cool side gig! Sounds like a fun way to make some nice extra cash. I wish I lived closer to a big city, because I’m guessing that most of these gigs are in large metropolitan areas? Anyway, thanks for sharing!

    1. Lauren @ Lauren, Etc. October 30, 2015 at 8:14 AM

Just like the library/Red Bull gig mentioned above, brands are looking for opportunities to be front and center, and a small event can be just as or even more successful for a brand. Try googling Brand Ambassadors in your town, and you would be surprised how many results there are. And if not, try directing reaching out to brands that you think would benefit from advertising at events in your area. A table for an up and coming brand outside a grocery store in a small town might see less traffic, but they will see more engaged traffic.

      1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:36 AM

Thanks for chiming in with such an insightful comment Lauren! You sound like a veteran in the industry and the readers are lucky to have your wisdom on this blog :]

  6. Chris @ Flipping a Dollar October 30, 2015 at 7:26 AM

Lol redskins. Just beat Tampa by the skin of their teeth. But I can’t talk cause I’m a fan of the Chefs. Great googly moogly.

This seems.like the perfect gig for a college student. they were all over campus trying to get me to drink red bull!

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:15 PM

Yea this is actually a PERFECT side gig for college students as staffing agencies are always looking for young, energetic, and friendly people who have a flexible schedule.

  7. Lauren @ Lauren, Etc. October 30, 2015 at 8:09 AM

And for all the SAHMs, there are tons of companies looking for brand ambassadors that just require you to use their products and post about it on social media. You don’t start off getting paid nearly as much, but the more you send traffic to their website, the more you make.

  8. EL October 30, 2015 at 8:15 AM

That’s a cool side gig man, it really goes to show that opportunities are everywhere. Yeah I volunteered once at a big event, it was non-paid, but we got free dinner, a T-shirt, a few giveaways, and we were able to attend the event.

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:39 AM

That sounds like it was a great gig EL!

That’s another perk of being a Brand Ambassador is the free entry, occasional free food, uniform, and extra product and giveaways :]

  9. Penny @ She Picks Up Pennies October 30, 2015 at 8:23 AM

I have a friend who does this in the “off” season of his regular career. He’s been working at it for so long now, that he actually gets to travel for the work. This is a terrific profile – loved learning more about the ins and outs of the profession.

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 11:41 AM

YES it’s the best when you have enough experience where brands want to hire you to travel. Most of the time they pay for transportation, hotels, and even per diem for food! Some of these tours can even go for months and you get to see all of the USA.

Thanks for the compliment Penny and good luck out in the field :]

  10. Kristi @ Femme Frugality October 30, 2015 at 8:33 AM

I admit that I was one of those people who just assumed that the brand ambassadors were employees of the company. I don’t know if I have the outgoing personality necessary to be successful at this, but I know people who could make a killing doing this side hustle. Thanks for sharing this! I’m going to pass it on.

    1. Kenny @ Brand Ambassador World October 30, 2015 at 11:43 AM

      Hey Kristi,

You don’t necessarily have to be the loudest and most outgoing person to be a great Brand Ambassador. There are other opportunities, such as within a retailer, where you don’t have to be so loud – just friendly :]

      Thanks for sharing!

  11. Melody October 30, 2015 at 9:01 AM

This is great – I worked as a Brand Ambassador once when I was younger – trying to get people to sign up for something (can’t remember what) but I do remember that I got paid like $200 for a day of easy and fun work, getting to be outside! I had some friends who were also BAs for a beer distributor, and they went around to bars and got people to try samples of free beer and give their opinions on what the bar should carry. Easiest job in the world, right? :)

    1. Kenny @ Brand Ambassador World October 30, 2015 at 11:45 AM

Depending on the gig, it really can be one of the easiest and most fun jobs in the world :] I mean, getting paid to sample beers at fun places??

In order to sample alcohol, you’ll need to be TIPS Alcohol Certified, which you can read all about here:

Living and working in Chicago I see a ton of brand ambassadors in the city. Red bull is everywhere, especially during bigger events, if only they gave away something other than Redbull this would be great.

    1. Justin @ Root of Good October 30, 2015 at 10:12 AM

Like vodka? And a cocktail glass, some ice and a stirrer?

    2. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:17 PM

There are a TON of Brand Ambassador gigs in Chicago. Maybe hop into the industry for a weekend or two a month and see what kind of side income you can make ;)

Lol Redbull does seem to be everywhere huh? Marketing geniuses over there!

  13. Andrew October 30, 2015 at 9:47 AM

I always thought these people were just highly motivated employees! I always walked away from the free red bull ambassadors thinking wow It must be nice to work for a great company. I had no idea they were smiling guns for hire.

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:23 PM

      Hey Andrew,

Yea right? I thought the same exact thing until a buddy of mine introduced me to the industry and I’ve been one of the smiling guns for hire ever since! It’s such a great side hustle and I wish you the best of luck if you decide to give it a shot.

  14. Justin @ Root of Good October 30, 2015 at 10:06 AM

I might have to get into this hustle! Sounds like a fun way to make some cash and do something crazy/interesting. Maybe Vanguard would like to hire me as a Brand Ambassador lol.

    1. Matt October 30, 2015 at 11:12 AM

Haha, yes! We can hand out shares of VTI in the park.

      1. J. Money November 2, 2015 at 1:04 PM

OMG to Vanguard haha… we already promote them! FOR FREE!! :)

    2. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:25 PM

      Hey Justin,

It’s a lot of fun and you’d be surprised what kind of events you can get into and what brands you are able to represent. I have some friends who travel all over the nation and get paid to work at music festivals and big events! Give it a shot if you’re looking for a change of scenery while making money ;)

  15. Jason @ Phroogal October 30, 2015 at 10:26 AM

Such a great way to socialize + make money. Who says those two must be mutually exclusive?

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:26 PM

Exactly Jason! Lots of people wonder how they can make money from their friendly personalities and being a Brand Ambassador is one of the most fun and lucrative ways to do it. Good luck out in the field and let me know if you have any questions at all!

  16. Maggie @ Northern Expenditure October 30, 2015 at 11:04 AM

Anyone else thinking of “Subway” from Community? I’m glad to see being a brand ambassador isn’t actually that shady! Get paid to hand out free t-shirts? Awesome!

    1. Debt Hater October 30, 2015 at 11:46 AM

I loved that episode of Community (one of my favorite shows), it was hilarious how they incorporated their own sponsorship of the show into an actual character. Luckily based on this post it seems like you don’t have to change your identity to just to be a brand ambassador.

      1. Maggie @ Northern Expenditure October 30, 2015 at 12:37 PM

He came back in the last season and he and Britta both had to be car ambassadors in order to date. So funny! Glad to hear they’re not that demanding!

    2. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:28 PM

HAHA love that episode! If you have a friendly and outgoing personality already, then you don’t have to change one bit. Just have to learn the key facts about the brand and regurgitate it with a smile on your face at cool events :]

  17. Vic @ Dad Is Cheap October 30, 2015 at 11:40 AM

Sounds like a sweet gig to get paid to talk to people! I’d love to be able to go to some of those cool events. I’ll have to look into it! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:31 PM

      No problem Vic!

Thank Jay for letting me guest post in such an awesome community.

Getting paid to talk to people at cool events is so much fun, I really hope you look into it. Check out the rest of my website at http://www.brandambassadorworld.com if you’re interested in learning more.

  18. Abigail @ipickuppennies October 30, 2015 at 12:18 PM

This kinda sounds like “booth babes” at various tech/nerd conventions. Or maybe that’s just the slightly condescending term for attractive, female brand ambassadors at some of these things. I heard that some gals do this for E3 and similar gigs so that they can check out the con during their breaks. Getting paid on top of that seems like a good thing.

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:39 PM

      Hey Abigail,

“Booth Babes” is another term for Brand Ambassadors but is a little limiting so you won’t see that term being used very often. I actually worked at E3 this past year for Oculus. We wore Oculus branded T-Shirts and demoed the latest Oculus Rift Virtual Reality technology to attendees of E3. Not only did we get paid $25/hr but we got into E3 for free, got to demo the product before anyone else, and took home lots of extra swag and gift cards :]

Good luck out in the field!

  19. Jason B October 30, 2015 at 4:13 PM

That sounds like a fun side hustle. I need to check my area and see if they have any active gigs during the upcoming holiday season.

    1. Kenny Azama October 30, 2015 at 4:42 PM

      Hey Jason,

The holiday season is a great time of the year for working Brand Ambassador gigs. With so many holiday events and shopping days, brands love to take send Brand Ambassadors out to the higher than average foot traffic areas during the holidays. Good luck!

  20. Juli T October 31, 2015 at 9:54 AM

It does look fun! However, based on the pictures, brand ambassadors also need to be young, thin, attractive, and (almost always) white. Since I’m 50, fat, and usually described as “having a great personality” in the looks department, should I bother to apply?

    1. J. Money November 2, 2015 at 1:06 PM

(I just spit out my coffee at my screen!)

    2. Kenny Azama November 6, 2015 at 12:12 AM

      Hey Juli,

I’ve hired grandmothers in their 60s who barely spoke English. It all depends on what the gig is and who the target consumer is. Yes, you should totally bother to apply if you support a certain brand and think you’d do well in positively representing that brand. Good luck!

  21. Mrs. C October 31, 2015 at 10:42 AM

I worked as a brand ambassador once- promoting toilet paper (I don’t recall the brand) at a Susan G. Komen event. I was HORRIBLE at it!!!! But then again, how many people really want to chat with the toilet paper salesman?!?!?! Anyway, I think I made upwards of $30 an hour for that gig……

      Hey Mrs. C,

Wow, $30/hr for a toilet paper gig?? That’s great! Yes, sometimes we can be “horrible” at Brand Ambassador work if we are not fully on board with the brand, but if you represent a brand you do like, you’ll be surprised at how great you actually become!

Again, it’s not for everyone but if you can put a smile on and spout off facts about the brand, it’s an easy side hustle that pays well.

    Pretty cool side gig.

It is and it’s a pretty cool full-time gig if you have the personality and hustle for it. Good luck if you decide to give it a shot ;)

    Hi,
I recently read your article (and others), regarding working as a Brand Ambassador to supplement one’s income. However, I am “concerned” about two things, specifically, that seem to appear in most ads and/or photos: employers of these gigs often ask for a “head shot”. Why is that necessary, especially if it’s not for some modelling agency or such. Also, in the photos, most “B.A.s” appear to all be under 30 years old! Is that the case, and are such gigs only for the young adults? Seems rather discriminatory to me on both counts.
Would welcome your feedback and advice, as I could certainly use some supplemental income. Thank you!

      Hi Leslie

Most companies need a photo for many different reasons. Mostly it shows them you are a outgoing, well put together cheerful person. All ages can work in this industry but some jobs are more specific. For example if they are looking for women to represent Budweiser and take photos with fans, they are looking for a specific model look. Different brands want to portray a specific image. It could be young and trendy , natural, classic and elegant. Sometimes these promo companies leave it up to the client or company you will be representing to decide. We are actually part of the marketing.. We are a product in a way so our image is very important. Everyone has to figure out where they fit in but there is a place for everyone in this industry. Good luck!

I’ve been reading comments here with interest. My daughter was a BA, although she called it promotional modeling, in the Metro Detroit area. She started with an agency, but that didn’t get her too far, she did much better with her own networking. You must be an approachable, outgoing person that loves to talk, besides being nice on the eyes. And young. By the time she was 30 she knew she’d lost any competitive advantage, even though she was still beautiful, strong, athletic and very personable. So yes, you probably would do better if you are younger, preferably early 20’s. But, it can lead to great things. My daughter got in to the alcohol brands, and that lead to a job as a Brand Ambassador (real title, it’s really a managerial position) for a major specialty vodka company with her client base covering all of Michigan and Ohio. Great money, great benefits! With her great networking and just wonderful working relationships she was recruited by another alcohol company that has a portfolio of hundreds of brands, with a specialty in bourbon. (And no, she hasn’t been replaced even tho it’s been 3 months since she left). Now she is learning a different aspect of that industry. So, if you want to try becoming a BA, it can certainly be something rewarding, if you stick with it, are good at it and network, network, network! Oh, and the worst job she ever had being a BA was working for The History Channel at the Michigan International Speedway, wearing a shirt that had a tv on her belly (and she’d rooked her sister in to working with her that day!). It was great money but she said it really wasn’t worth it! But it made for a funny story, that day…

    Hi

This is such a wonderful and informative website! I just wanted to share that it is possible to make Brand Ambassador work a full time job if that is what you are looking for. I could ( if I wanted to.. Which is the beauty of being a independent contractor ) work every day all year long. I usually work 10 events a week. I mostly work in store liquor samplings and at trade shows which pay the most. I believe the job title is more like ‘ Product Specialist’ pay is around $25-$40 hr, at least in Los Angeles and San Fran. I work as a ‘Crowd Gatherer,’ ‘ Booth Hostess,’ and ‘ Lead Generator’ for conventions and trade shows. Basically helping companies bring in more foot traffic and collect leads at their booth at the show. Average pay is $250-$400 a day for those positions. I also sell and promote perfume which is another industry that even most BA’s are not aware of. Fragrance Models ( that’s what they are called / the people that hand out perfume samples at department stores.. And you can be any age ) do not work for the store. They all work for separate fragrance companies. You work your own hours and make $20hr or more. I love this industry very much and I am so thankful to have discovered it. I have been able to make a living just doing this and I’m sure you can too if you take the time to sign up with multiple companies and make great impressions. Good luck to everyone getting started in this biz. :)
